Wow I just noticed that.
Goodbye Omamori Himari.
I was going to watch it to commemorate renewing my CR sub (when I do it).
And about the censorship thing....
Wow, double screw Sony man.

I wonder what is going to come of all this.
Region locks are bad enough but now with the forced separation of CR and Funi maybe it's going to force me into swallowing my pride and just streaming anime from illegitimate sources.
What is this world coming to?

Figured I'd give you an update on my digital code.

I just bought The Morose Mononokean Bluray & Digital, the Digital code refuses to be accepted. I've contacted customer support but so far yea... 4 is pretty accurate on my end.

Support finally got back to me, they reissued the codes and the code finally worked for me.. only for me to find that the extras were the only thing available to me.

So basically, they are advertising digital content they no longer have access to at this point. As soon as CR and Funi split, any of the Digital codes to the anime they produced together became worthless.

It's seemed apparent to me just how much of CR's efforts are thrown all into the VRV basket and caring little for this site that people actually converse on. However, after hearing the shit show Funi has running I awkwardly feel somewhat placated. They don't seem to be doing much to offer good options of legitimacy.

Hopefully Sony will throw its wallet down and make some real improvements on functionality and convenience. After all that's the only way competition can serve the consumer in this anime world of "exclusives."

i am abit worried about how much sony and funi are planning to expand their service, if anything at all. funi has alot of anime that alot of people really love , and for alot of people had finally the chance to watch them here on crunchyroll, but with the partnership ending, they lost every chance they had to do so. also, since funi have sony as their backers, there is quite the big chance that we are going to see alot of upcomming anime be only exclusive to funi. i just don't want this partnership breakup cause limited access to their upcomming titles.

Well I'd like it if all the new anime coming out was available on one reasonably priced service (like CR) with an excellent viewing platform and forum for discussion. None of those things are the case anywhere arguably even separately and never will be together. Yeah, being pushed to pay or pirate other services might be uncomfortable, but if the services are pushed to improve because of competition then consumers might actually get something out of it.

CR's forum, profiles, comments section, and video player all have disappointing or broken issues. What do they care when they still have the biggest library and sites like Funi's look even worse. CR's library has shrunk and it's done. There is still opportunity to hope for improvement out of this though.

Couldn't help but notice many of these comment are written as if the partnership isn't over and done with.
No volume of emails and forum posts are gonna bring it back! If you're just venting (as I am) then fine, but some of these "Bring it back or I'll take my money elsewhere' posts are unbearably naive

i guess you make a good point, but again i would rather pay to watch than pirate. but i get that the reason funi broke up the partnership was because sony was pressuring them. also, i haven't really heard how funi is going to move forward on their own, unless they have made a statement. its also true that the competition might cause improvement for everyone , but it dosen't mean it will happen right away or at all for that matter. it would make sense that it would since sony has all the resources to do so without any issues, but for some reason when big name companies get involved, it does not end well. there is alot of valid concern and a reason to be sceptical on how or if funi/sony is able to pull it off without any issues. i would have loved to have other options than crunchyroll , but the only issue is that other services that currently out there is just too lacklusting when it comes to the amount of content they provide compared to crunchyroll.

Maybe CR should try to make some type of deal with Netflix or something. Netflix has a horrible offering of anime and could use the boost and in return CR might get a boost in either revenue or viewership.

Funimation is a right mess. I absolutely HATE having to watch anything there. Their site is unintuitive and extremely unfriendly. It's almost like they go out of their way to make it a pain in the a**.

Hulu can just die a thousand deaths. They will NEVER get another penny from me. Sorry, it's personal and I've boycotted them. I would rather try to connect rabbit ears to my pc than have to watch Hulu.

Netflix is great but their anime seleciton bites.

Amazon...oh Amazon, I don't even know what to say. Why do you make it so that your current anime cannot be found unless you actually type the ame of it in and have to search through a million other things. Seriously, nothing ever shows up on their lists. It's annoying. Just try to find iroduku the world in colors from any of their lists. It was the same with Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress. I always have to type the name in to find any current anime. Their anime sections just never have them on it. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? If so please enlighten me.

VIZ is a viable alternative but has very few shows and commercials and don't seem to have any membership options but I only visited it once so maybe I missed it.

A deal with Rooster Teeth might be nice for both also.

Well, I can watch my Digital Copy of Testament of Sister New Devil Burst through the PS4 app, but not the website...so that excuses them from one problem, but points out another. Their website is a buggy mess

you have the loony bin running their game department now. So far it seems limited to their Playstation subsidiary, let's hope it doesn't infect their anime distribution. I already have full intentions skipping Playstation next gen if they don't clean house in California, if Funi's box sets start getting censored I'll stop buying those as well.

I agree that Funi's website is a mess which is why I avoid it entirely.
They just made a deal with HiDive via VRV, they already have one with Rooster Teeth with it.
Their only viable partner in moving shows over to CR proper is HiDive at this point, the others are too big to get any real value out of a deal.
Amazon's anime distribution is a mess, but they have mostly backed off of it.
Netflix is too much of a behemoth to bother with CR and I'm convinced they have full intention to eventually kill off this website.
Let's face it their video player is way better than what we have here and the only reason why they haven't succeeding in knocking off CR is that they don't believe in western simulcasting and their catalog is so lackluster. Now that they are funding anime series and cutting off many of the intermediaries in the funding process we're going to see more exclusives over there whether we like it or not.

Sony wants to control the anime they license and by pooling their money with Hulu... not many people will be able to outbid them.
