I don't have too much of a preference. I use Linux, Mac, and Windows 10.

Two computers:

Intel NUC (Core i7-7567U)
16GB DDR4
500 GB Samsung NVMe (OS)
2 TB 5400 rpm HDD (Storage)
OS installed:
Windows 10 Education
Linux Mint 18 (I might upgrade to 19)

Macbook Pro 13"
16GB DDR3
512GB SSD (I might upgrade it to 1TB)

I like Windows because there are many apps and programs that are compatible with it.

Linux! I'd dabbled with it for years, but finally decided to switch to it full time after Steam's Proton came out. I recently installed Solus and have been loving it!

Mac. I like that my phone gets along with my personal laptop, as I'm on the road a lot for work and my work computer is running Windows. I'm not tech savvy enough to use Linux. I've been through a $2000 toughbook and am currently using a similarly priced Lenovo. The toughbook was very nice, until it cooked itself. This Lenovo Thinkpad is horrible compared to my 2011 MacBook Pro. I know I'm paying for the name with Apple but my experience with their products has been positive. But I'm also running old stuff. Not looking forward to replacing my old laptop or my 6s plus...

Linux! It loads faster, I have to do less to maintain it, and it fucks up far less than windows. Updates are smooth, at least on Linux mint, and they dont hijack my computer whenever they feel like it. Also found it has a lot of nice and free tools. Thanks to proton I am playing a lot more windows only games on it without issue. For the others I use dxvk or just native wine. Thankfully Linux support is increasing among good games.

For new people I'd recommend Linux Mint: https://www.linuxmint.com/ it works well right after install and you can override its defaults when you feel comfortable. You will know if you should try any other distro after you get comfortable.

I prefer OpenSUSE with KDE. Yast is just the best. OpenSUSE had lvm before it was popular.
