Synopsis

When she was a child, Kasumi Toyama (played by Poppin' Party's lead singer, Aimi) felt a heart-pounding thrill every time she gazed at the stars, and she's been looking without success for something that could inspire the same feeling ever since. One day, she comes across a star-shaped guitar in a rundown pawnshop and, for the first time, discovers the thrill she's been searching for. Kasumi becomes determined to form an all-girl band, and her search leads her to four like-minded souls: Saya, Arisa, Rimi, and Tae (all brought to life by the members of Poppin' Party). Does this band have what it takes to make their dreams of stardom come true?

Ep.1

The new season of BanG Dream! is here and its a new start for the girls as new school year begins. The first episode was a lot better than i expected with the show now being in cgi. We got to see Kasumi side of the new school year and her sister as well. With everything being new the girls got an invite to play at galaxy where all the girl bands are performing now and we got to see some familiar faces. The first episode started off with a bang and i can't wait to see all these bands perform.

all i can say is that i am happy sanzigen is working on this . i was really skeptical when i heard that the second season was going to be fully made in cgi, but i was proven that cgi can be amazing if done right.

I really enjoyed the first episode. Despite the show being in 3D, there were times when I forgot it was. Let's hope they are able to keep this up.

Personally, I feel a bit weird that they decided to move the characters on to the new year and grade. I have gotten so used to the characters being in the same year for so long, but nice to see where most of the characters are now. I find it hilarious that both Hina and Rinko are now the school president for their schools (this will be an interesting year). Plus it's nice to have a mention to Rimi's sister who has now graduated.

Overall a good start to the new season, I am excited to see where it goes and see the new band, Raise A Suilen, make their debut.

The CGI looks good at the moment.

I'm say I will enjoy it as I did season one, cause at the end of the day, the alternative is that this second season couldn't be made in the first place. (Unless they on purpose wanted CGI, in that care... At least it isn't terrible.)

Other than addressing the elephant in the room, not much to say so far, other than this reminds me of Love Live!, where the first season builds up the cast, and season two sets them in motion to become stars.

I've got to admit that I absolutely hate the CGI (yes, I got spoiled by Land of the Lustruous) on this but the music and voicers make it still worth seeing. It'll be a fun 2nd season it seems.

I have to admit I was nervous about the CGI. While the recent MVs have had some outstanding CGI I can imagine it would be hard to put the kind of effort you can into a ~2m MV into a +20m episode but it looked really good! There were some spots but overall one of the best since Lustrous imo. Not simply the quality of the CGI but that they used the advantages of CGI in setting up camera angles that are just really difficult to do traditionally.

I was a little disappointed they didn't translate the songs but given this is geared towards BanG Dream! fans most of us likely know all the lyrics anyway and for any others they're easily found online.

I'm an unabashed Roselia fan so yes, their performance was my favourite but the others certainly hit the mark.

I like that they're integrating how the live music scene works in Japan. In most of the Western world clubs and other venues hire groups to play. In Japan for most of the live music scene the band's have to pay for the venue, such as a warehouse, and hope to recoup the cost plus make some profit. It's very different business model.

Crossing my fingers and toes the animation quality holds throughout the season.

Ugh the CG.................

Coming from the first season, I think they've made this one for fans of the mobile game (didn't play it for long) and not fans of the anime....

The way they just rushed out all of the signature songs of each group kind of screams "SEE THIS IS GOOD MUSIC PLEASE KEEP WATCHING" Kind of trying hard there to get an audience (though I liked Shuwarin Dreaming). Normally I'd expect a signature song as the highlight of a story arc instead of some sort of medley in the first episode.

Yes it's better than the 2nd season not being made at all as someone else said, but this CG is seriously NOT my cup of tea. I feel like i'm watching a bunch of robot marionettes instead of anime characters.

I'm not sure if I'm going to keep watching. Maybe 2nd episode.

p.s. is it just me or did they change Tae's VA? Tae didn't sound like herself AT ALL for some reason. She sounded squeaky......

Tae's voice actor is the same. However two members from Roselia were replaced. Lissa VA retired and Rinko's had to graduate due to hearing loss.
