Have to admit Pastel*Palettes isn't one of my favourites but it was a cute episode.

Afterglow is next!

it's so nice to have BGD2 here! i wonder if the new ep comes out on CR thiis Thursday (as it does in Japan) or on Mondays as it says on the show page...btw i never played the mobile game (or any mobile game) but i like girls with guitars doing cute things and overcoming very mild adversity with a highly decent OST, so...B++!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh ****! This is on CR now too!

I wonder why CR just kinda quietly managed to get 5 or so anime they couldn't get at the start of the season on the site.

The ones they got I was watching are:

The Magnificent Kotobuki
Domestic Girlfriend

Now they got BanG Dream S2! Man they are on the ball this year!

Afterglow <3

That pic of them in grade school. Ran in a dress!

Heh. They can't give Mocha too many lines or the episode will time out.

So we have Lock looking to form a band, a mystery drummer pops up, and now what looks like a singer/guitarist.

I'm really feeling like S2 is gonna end with the franchise announcing a new band.

I still find it hard to believe that they announced third season along with this season back then. Maybe the whole franchise is that popular? Probably.

I don't play because I'm terrible at rhythm games but from my understanding the game is crazy popular.

I really feel like this second season, much more so than the first, is targeted at fans of the franchise. It's why each band is getting an arch with just a thin thread of a story connecting everything.

As a fan my only real source of disappointment is they didn't continue with letting each band focused in an episode do the OP. After Roselia's crazy good OP it would have been amazing to let Happy and Afterglow have their turns instead of it being PoPiPa all the time.

(Official channel release this time so should stay up. =P )

So the mystery band is The Third. I'd recognize that rift they ended with anywhere.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxhCp3XEWtw

Interestingly The Third is made up of members who help back-up the other Bang Dream bands. They are professional musicians which ties well into Tae's comments about wanting to rise to their level. While the other Bang Dream band members are certainly talented many are VAs/actors first, musicians second.

Now I'm curious if the members of The Third are voicing their own characters in the anime.

Ah! Seems they underwent a name change I completely missed: https://bandori.fandom.com/wiki/RAISE_A_SUILEN

And they are indeed voicing their own characters.

I might be kinda late to the party since you already answered a lot of your own questions lol. Another fun bit of trivia that they put into the anime is that Raychell (Layer's VA) and Sae Otsuka (Tae's VA) have known each other for a long time like their characters. And that Sae was the guest guitarist for The Third until Riko Kohara

Idk if that last bit is spoiler, but I covered it just in case you're watching only the anime and don't want the real life counterparts to spoil it.

It's kinda cool to compare the real life events to the anime events for this series since all the characters and their interactions have subtle references to their real life VA.

Ep10

I love how they've worked the history of some of the members of RAS into the anime. And that performance of Riot was awesome! These animators know how to use CGI. Now I'm wondering how Lock gets recruited.

I was surprised how relatively deep Natsume's (Masking) voice is. It's a nice change from the constant higher pitches and really fits her character. I wonder if she is naturally that deep or if they had her push her natural voice a bit lower to give off that "bad girl" vibe.

Also, nice trick when your VA can't sing in a child's voice. Make it part of the character's history that they've sounded like an adult when singing since they were young.

Oh! And I love how they worked one of Raychell's (Layer) hair flips into the performance. She has long hair and wears it loose at performances and from time-to-time she'll push it back. Props to the animators for adding that touch. It really ties the character to her performer.

Those RAS girls are not in high school. Don't lie to me, bang dream. Drummer girl looks like she is at least mid 20's. I gave bass girl the benefit of the doubt of being like 3-4 years older than Otae. Maybe it's because they don't wear school uniforms or maybe their vibe? Either way those two still physically look old as shit for high schoolers.

Yeah, it's definitely feels like BanG Dream's effort to have all assorted bands' members be of high school age colliding with both Natsume and Raychell's "vibe". I agree that both come off as being in their early-to-mid 20's. Particularly after the way their support work was chatted up.

Ep 2-11

WIth Bang Dream coming down to it's final 2 episodes what better time to binge watch. This season has turned out better than i ever hope with so many bands and like how some of them started. When it comes to favorite episode i would say episode 4 is one of my favorites as Hello, Happy World! tries to cheer up Poppin Party. My second is episode 5 with Pastel*Palettes and how hard they work between being idols and practicing as a band.

I can't forget about Poppin Party as they still plan to hold a concert and celebrate their 1 year anniversary as a band. Not only that but we get some drama with Tae wanting to practice with another band after being invited by a friend. In the end seems like everything is fine and Tae will remain with her friends. For the last two im guessing it will focus on Lock and her getting a band?

Lets see what happens in the end? And how this will lead up to season 3?

Ep 12

We receive a new popipa song! And it looks like we'll receive at least one more new song next week. Light Delight was the song that turned me into a popipa fan, so I'm quite a fan of Returns already. Aimin's powerful voice suits these ballad type songs very well and I'm glad we get to hear this side of popipa again.
