I didn't sign up for this feel train.

As also someone who didn't read the manga the gender of Dororo surprised me a bit. The VA did a good job masking it as little boy. But, when you think about it it's clever masking yourself as a boy. Easier to survive on the roads at least until that age arrives.

I figured we were due for some tragic shit after two eps with happy endings. Dororo's dad was a savage but it didn't help him in the end... "THIS IS HOW YOU USE A SPEAR!!!" is a pretty good dying line, though. I hope Dororo runs into Itachi at some point and avenges her parents. Wouldn't surprise me if he turns out to be working for Hyakkimaru's dad.

Good to have an episode focused on Dororo, but it was another brutal story.

That reveal also gives what she saw Mio endure a different context too.

Will watch this series some time, especially since I'm tired of the anime formula.

Episode 10

This episode focuses on Tahomaru, who is Hyakkimaru's brother, but neither of them know about it as Hyakkimaru is being kept in the dark about everything, all while Daigo's land is starting to wither away due to Hyakkimaru slaying the demons. Tahomaru seems to be a good guy as he cares about his followers. He fights that giant crab monster with his followers and while he had a great plan by draining the lake with the sluice gate, the crab destroyed it, and things were looking bad until Hyakkimaru came to slay it. Tahomaru seems to be a forgotten guy in all this, but it's great that he finally gets some focus as after all, he is Hyakkimaru's brother. Now that Hyakkimaru is near his family again that it will be interesting to see how this encounter goes.

Glad to see more development in regards to Tahomaru. He seems to really embody the noble way (protecting the people on his lands), and his retainers are loyal and brave.

It will be interesting to see how things go, especially if Tahomaru discovers Hyakkimaru's identity. How will he feel about it? Will he feel he needs to kill him to preserve his family's hold on their lands, as well as out of resentment towards his mother and wanting to prove himself to his father? Or will his nobility override that, and will he instead team up with his brother?

Episode 10

Nice to see more of Tahomaru. I really like him. He cares for his people and retainers. Shame he doesn't know what his shitty dad did...

I'm also interested in what will happen when Tahomaru finds out about Hyakkimaru.

Good to finally see the other side of the family, and thankfully neither he, nor his closest followers are douches.
I keep thinking Mutsu is secretly a woman, but it might be just the voice of the VA.

Tahomaru seems smart, but would he not have an inkling as to who that baby is? His mother prays every day, his Father deems it important, along with the midwife.

They'll meet, so I guess it doesn't really matter, but for now, they're gonna have some killer crab tonight

Episode 11

Last time, Hyakkimaru met his brother, though neither are still unaware that they are brothers. And now, he meets his father who started this whole mess by selling his soul to the demons. They meet in Banmon, which is haunted by a fox demon, and Dororo meets Sukeroku, who is looking to return home after it had been conquered by the Asakura clan. Things have really taken quite a turn here as now Hyakkimaru and Daigo are finally together, but it's not a happy reunion. So the first half ends with a huge confrontation to set things up for the second half, and it should be great to see what goes down.

Episode 11

It made me laugh when Dororo was bragging to Tahomaru and his retainers.

We're introduced to Sukeroku who wants to return home to see his parents.

I feel awful for the mother of Hyakkimaru and Tahomaru :-(

Things escalate in the second half as Dororo and Sukeroku get in trouble.

The episode ends on a cliffhanger with Hyakkimaru finally meeting Daigo.

What will Tahomaru do? Will Dororo be okay??

Ahh, I'm so nervous!

So clearly feudal Japan never experienced a #MeToo movement...

In any case, week after week, episode by episode, story arc by story arc and the careful building of the Overall Story, this show continues to display incredible narrative chops. I eagerly await each new installment, that's for sure.

Oooh, looks interesting. I've been looking for a new series to watch.
It's cool that they're re-making the old 1970s Dororo series and gave it a new look. Never watched the original, but I've seen illustrations from it before.

Very much liking Tahomaru and his retainers. He seems to be a good kid despite growing up feeling that his parents don't care for him. I can see him teaming up with Hyakkimaru to somehow make things right with the land.

Meanwhile, the villagers from ep. 10 are still enjoying their giant crab soup feast...
