Episode 6

Yumemi thought she had bribed the voters, but Natari counter-bribed them to win the round. And then comes the round where there are three macarons, one of them is spiked with habanero and the objective is to identify which one is the hot one. But while Yumemi tried to mislead her by breaking her finger, Natari didn't fall for it, all while Yumeko guessed based on the number of chews. And for the third game, it's a game of chicken using a deck of cards where the girls are free to lie about which card they draw. Yumeko realizes that Natari is picking up on Yumemi's signals, so Yumeko decides not to play this as a duo. Yumemi nearly lost it there as she wanted to be acknowledged by Natari after losing, but in the end she won after passing and handing a busted set over to Natari. That was quite a dramatic turn of events there going to show just far ahead Natari is in show biz, but Yumemi does have what it takes if she could just overcome her shortcomings that were on full display during the match.

I didn't say it's coming in August. I just said that if things follow the same way as they did with the first season, it should be coming out at that time. The show premiered in July 2017 and the episodes came to Netflix in February 2018, a wait of seven months. And seven months from January puts this in August. However, there's no official word right now as to when it will come out.

Ehh Yumemi was the least interesting part of season 1 and same this season. This week's episode has an interesting set up, like white haired dude (didn't think we'd see him again, though I guess it was inevitable since he's in the OP) I figured Yumeko was the one not pui into the tax box but who is she working with? Damn we need more of this silver hair girl, her top can barely contain her plot.

Ep:8 That actually turned out more interesting than I thought it would. Things are just starting to get good. Where has Suzui been lately? Poor Manyuda, Sumeragi has him wrapped around her nail-less fingers. The lily (yuri) falling to the ground when the pres broke her assistants heart was a nice touch, can't wait to see how she gets back at Yumeko next episode for stealing her girl. If her grabbing Yumeko's boob in the preview was any indication it should be good.

Episode 8

So now it's Yumeko playing with Itsuki and Kaede in a game where their objective is to decide how much money to keep and put in the tax box to be distributed to all the players, but with the risk of being eliminated should someone catch them with tax evasion. Just when things looked like Yumeko was suspected of being the fraudster, Kaede's sharp thinking was able to deduce that there are two traitors in Miroslava and Itsuki, with Miroslava being the one eliminated after figuring out she has the most coins, and that she was exchanging notes with Itsuki. So in the end, Itsuki won, but has all of her votes taken by Terano after losing a third-party bet believing that Kaede would win, so while Itsuki is out of the running for the student council president, she was never interested in becoming it. Once again, the drama was simply great as Yumeko continues to count on the student council members she defeated in the first season to back her up.

Ep:9Did the president's voice change? I don't remember her sounding like that, if not the seiyuu they have playing her is all wrong for the character. Really don't get the workings of the tower, really sometimes this show goes so far out of it's way to make a clever "game" it makes it unenjoyable to watch because I have no idea what is going on. Also the boob grab seemed oddly unnecessary.

(Hah must be killing Bakaneer he's not first to comment)

Tower of Doors arc beginning now.

This is where shit gets real and pacing should pick up more. Oh Sayaka, always wants to prove herself.

Episode 9

And now, Yumeko is gunning for Kirari to settle things once and for all. But before that, there's the Tower of Doors duel against her secretary Sayaka, and the stakes are much different as instead of votes, Yumeko is betting her gambling career while Sayaka's friendship with Kirari is at stake. And whoever loses this duel has to jump. A duel that's all about logic, is what it is all about, but of course things don't always go as planned. While Sayaka is thinking rationally, Yumeko is really bold seeing that she opened an external door. Should be interesting to see where this all leads to.

Episode 10

So that ending there confirms what Yumeko thought all along in that this tower is rotating, that along with the entrance they entered being blocked. She used that fact to her advantage to win it as while Sayaka got to the first floor one turn ahead, Yumeko just needed a single turn to make it all the way back up as she knew where the staircase back to the top would be. While Sayaka was all about logic, Yumeko's thinking of the big picture is what got her the win. And then Sayaka jumps, but she happens to fall onto a safety mat, all while Kirari maintains her friendship. That was some great thinking there by Yumeko, and while Sayaka is smarter, she's also tackling things with brute force, which was the difference. So with that, the election comes to its climax with the auction.

Nice yuri moment with Sayaka and the president after Yumeko again easily outwits her opponent. Neat way the tower works and how Yumeko figured it out. Kind of got a Red oni Blue oni vibe from Yumeko and the President. They're obviously mirror(?) images of each other, or should I say two sides of the same coin, or yin yang?

And whoah a Suzui sighting, where has he been? Only two episodes left and we're getting an...auction? Hmmm oh well hope it's good.

Episode 11

Just like with the first season, it ends with an anime-original gamble as it is centered around Rei, who is not in the manga. This game is an auction that's just fishy all-around as all bids, successful or not, go to the sponsor. Mary and Yumeko were on top of things once again as those two knew that it wasn't just the six of them in the room bidding against each other. Mary knew that Rei was in this, all while Yumeko found out that there's another person out of sight also in the game, and after bringing in 3 billion yen, she figures out that Rei is the sponsor who doesn't have to risk anything to steal all those votes. Quite a sneaky tactic that was, and now to end this Yumeko and Rei are going at it with a real gamble rather than a sham auction.

Well what's been obvious from the first time we heard her talk, Rei is really a chick and just like the Theranos loser uses a fake lower voice to sound more serious? Like a dude? Didn't get what Yumeko was after offering all that money for the votes, that's not really gambling if you give the money away.

Episode 12 (Finale)

So the main point of this game is to get the students to bid against each other so that Rei could keep adding to her total with the votes from the failed bids. Yumeko figured that out, and placing those 101-vote bids sent a strong message to everybody not to bid against each other. With everybody getting the message, all lots go for a single vote to take Rei out of the running. Then Rei and Yumeko have a bet with a simple coin toss with Rei betting 3 billion yen and Yumeko her Jabami family name, and naturally Yumeko wins. It's a she that it didn't take long for her to blow it, but Rei got a lesson she would never soon forget. She has been a loner for a long time, but she just needed to meet the right people like Yumeko and now, she has dropped the tomboy act. Pretty intense drama that was to end this season, but like the first season it's an anime-original ending as Rei is not in the manga. The election is still going, and hopefully it can get a third season to wrap up this battle royale.

Final Thoughts

Pretty much, all of the good and not-so-good things about the first season describe the second season as the show makes its money off intense drama, great characters, nice animation, and solid character development, all while the show's lacking in pacing and storywriting as some parts just moved too needlessly slow, all while the anime-original ending really didn't do much this time around. In any case, it continues to be an enjoyable show, just not one that does so with a story that stands out.

Grade: B+ (8/10)

Ahh that's it? Well the o faces were exquisitely drawn this episode at least. Rei looked better with her hair down but still in the pants, her girly haircut was kinda bleh. Too bad there isn't more manga story to animate, at least they ended it like a preview for a third season I hope this isn't the last we see of Jabami Yumeko and this crazy school. Maybe at least an OVA or movie to wrap things up someday, if anything I've learned not to bet against Yumeko
