Synopsis

At Grace Field House, life couldn't be better for the orphans! Though they have no parents, together with the other kids and a kind "Mama" who cares for them, they form one big, happy family. No child is ever overlooked, especially since they are all adopted by the age of 12. Their daily lives involve rigorous tests, but afterwards, they are allowed to play outside.

There is only one rule they must obey: do not leave the orphanage. But one day, two top-scoring orphans, Emma and Norman, venture past the gate and unearth the harrowing secret behind their entire existence. Utilizing their quick-wittedness, the children must work together to somehow change their predetermined fate.

And it's now live, on Crunchyroll, Hulu, HIDIVE, and Funimation.

Episode 1

Damn, things sure did change in a hurry. Just when the kids thought they were in heaven, it turns out to be a hell. The kids found the truth by accident when Conny forgot her stuffed bunny, and trying to give it back Conny ends up being food for the demons. Quite an impressive way to open things up there going to show that everybody is living a lie, and it's as great as advertised after the first episode. Now that the kids know the truth, now they need to figure out how to get out.

Ooh that opening song is gorgeous. I love it!

The animation quality looks good and the first half introduced a good amount of characters. The way they protrayed the innocence of the children like Conny made this even more thrilling to watch.

I'm ready for a wicked ride this season even if it's just a 1-cour. Loved the soundtrack/OST too. We got the appearance of the demons and a cliffhanger.

Ep.1

The first episode was simply amazing!!! We are introduced to our main characters Emma, Ray and Norman. We are also introduce to a good amount of characters and one of them being a bundle of joy Conny. Well it's really sad and shocking to see what happens to Conny and opens up a lot of questions of what is happening in this world?

Other than that the op was really good and the animation looks good as well. Really looking forward to more of this since im going into this on a blank slate.

My heart hurts after watching this...

I wish it was a little more subtle at the start. It hinted towards the end of the episode and something else a touch too hard. Otherwise everything else is 10/10. I actually really loved some of the other small changes they made (although I could have sworn the bunny had a name). Phil (the smol kid with black hair and blue eyes who likes trains) look glorious in animation. I can't wait to see more Phil in action.

I thought I was watching the first episode of Seraph of the End to be honest - I hope it's going to get a bit more original.

I'm getting Lord of the Flies vibes from this. A bunch of kids on their own. That kind of thing never goes well.

Totally loved that.

This might well grab my number one spot for the Winter season.

Would be a nice companion series, side story spinoff type, to Blood Blockade Battlefront if that went dark for the setting of it. I was just waiting for the shoe to drop since you don't get a nice big stencil fontface on your neck at a orphanage usually.

Oddest thing? I got a very real Logan's Run vibe from this show.
