This show had been on my list for a while now ever since I heard the manga was really good. Granted, I know about the spoiler beforehand but that reveal still got me. The characters all seem to be likable and the animation is pretty good. Really looked forward to the next episode.

That cliffhanger though lol

This is my first time as an anime nerd where I've read the manga prior to the anime being announced and everything and this first episode is basically everything I hoped it would be, I am so excited for next week

WHAT IN THE NAME OF THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY IS THIS?!!? I thought this was a shonen series?! This is twisting me in the exact opposite direction that Gridman did and I am not okay with it!

Some shonen can get pretty dark, and this is certainly one of them. The manga is originally published in Shonen Jump so you can be secure in the knowledge that there is only so far into abyss this story can go when it comes to mature content, but it may be a bit much for some people.

I already knew it was a WSJ series, that's why I decided to check it out in the first place. I think there is a hard, definitive line between "pretty dark" and showing a dead kid being taken by grotesque monsters to sell for meat. I haven't been this traumatized since Doki Doki Literature Club.

I regret not seeing spoilers prior to going into the first ep. It was rather flat and meh before Conny was seen dead and the reveal that the orphans are just a farm food. From that point onwards it was rly good, although it hasn't got my feelings connected with any characters in any way in just the first ep, which last season Zombie Land Saga and Bunny Girl Senpai did, it was more emotional than their first eps, purely through the MCs finding out someone close to them had been killed for food and they are destined for the same fate. Bc I went into the ep blind, I was caught super off guard by that moment, I legit almost threw up twice in the next 30mins and had to get a drink of water and listen to fukashigi no karte to take my mind off it and stop feeling sick so I could sleep.

I love that this show's sticking with the same sort-of over-the-top pseudo-realistic style as the manga, and it's shown in such an effective way. I'm not sure how I feel about the art style being smoothed out so much, but the animation's definitely on-point and if they stick to the manga then it's going to have some great moments.

Kind-of surprised I haven't heard people talking about a specific thing, though. I guess to someone going in unspoiled it probably wouldn't mean much, but that one detail is such a huge thing for the situation that I kind-of expected people to be speculating over it a bit more.

This is a pretty dark title .

I couldn’t stand waiting this type and went ahead and read the manga. It lightens up in some places because of the younger children characters. But the story development is really well done. There are parts that painful to read .

I wonder how far they are going to adapt

Guess I had too many seasons of normalcy, gotta get another Made in Abyss style show in there. Also this show might have the derpiest character faces I've seen since Clannad.

Totally loved that.

This might well grab my number one spot for the Winter season.

QFE,

seriously that was spectacular.

now some joke comments, the running in the OP already made me knew this was based, great anime have running in their op lol.
Also the cast literally made me think this was seven deadly sins but kids xD.

Ahh that camera angle and use of suspense was great, I saw everything coming but they still had me on my edge, and wow what great creepy designs.
