"Don't hesitate to get rough with her"
"As long as her father approves"

hmmm..."I'll take lines you might hear in a hentai for 300 Alex"

Episode 2

"We need Anima units because humans can't withstand the G-Forces needed to maneuver against the Xi"

Episode 7

"Hey you human...I want you to pilot the daughter."
"but what about the G-forces"
"oh, did we say that mattered before...well just ignore that"

So...where is Viper Zero's Anima pilot? It doesn't really make sense to say "well we only fly this plane if the base is under attack"....yet, if they don't destroy that base, the entirety of Japan, including that base, gets wiped out...

That isn't what she said....she said she wanted Kei to fly Gripen's plane, not hers.

Actually what was said was that Gripen had been limited to 9G to protect Kei and thus a human pilot wouldn't make much difference - the anima themselves can easily exceed 10G.

Right...which nullifies the advantage we were told the Anima had. Phantom said that the maneuverability wasn't important after we were told in episode 2 that the entire point of the Anima was to counteract the maneuverability of the Xi which humans can't mimic.

Yeah that bit was more surprising - is it just Phantoms style though because she's more of a bomber than a combat fighter?

I imagine she tries to avoid dogfights and engages everything with her AAMs at range. But for a light combat fighter like Gripen the restriction on maneuvering must be like fighting with one arm tied behind your back?

It wouldn't surprise me if Kei gets Gripen to remove the 9G limiter in the middle of a tough combat though.

As the pilot, that would be a bad idea...he would pass out. Actual combat pilots go through a lot of muscle training and breathing technique training to learn how to cope with G-forces. This kid who probably hasn't flown more than a Cessna in his life hops into an advanced jet fighter and just somehow knows how to control all the weapons systems and can withstand G-forces that it takes months of training for actual pilots to withstand.

I agree but he might be banking on merging with the anima like he did last time - a dangerous gamble but I guess if your in trouble might be worth a roll of the dice?

Episode 8

The battle is on at the fortress, but out of nowhere comes a new fighter jet, Viper Zero, to help make quick work out of those Xis. But Kei is back in Okinawa and out of nowhere Minghua shows up dressed in a gothloli outfit. But that's actually Viper, who looks just like Minghua, and she's not talkative. And her appearance is different depending on who's looking at her. That Viper sure is a weird and mysterious girl there, and it sure brought attention to Minghua seeing that she hasn't been relevant lately. And it doesn't stop there as another girl shows up there at the end, and it will be interesting to see what that blue-haired girl is all about.

Even Girly Air Force can't escape the beach theme episode.

Does Viper Zero not have a VA? Kinda random they showed her appearance but I'm guessing she has an important role later on.

They really went all in on the "dense harem protagonist" didn't they? Even when someone directly spells it out for Kei, he still acts like an idiot.

So, if Zero Two supposedly looks like a love interest in a guy's eyes...what does she look like to people who aren't interested in girls?

edit: oops, did I have a Freudian Slip and call Viper Zero, Zero Two...yes I did

So... the climatic battle built up from last episode is dealt with before the opening credits.

But Viper Zero is an interesting character. Curious to see more.

This show makes me think the Mangaka took the idea from Shirobako's '3rd Arial Girl's Squad' and decided it needed to be done in RL, but changed a few things to avoid copyright infringement.

I'm really enjoying this anime, it has a lot of cliches but for now it's fun.

I figured she was enjoying Kei's confusion and presumably if she spoke it would give the game away as she won't have Minghua's voice?
