When will it come back. It's been half a year already. I know it's not likely that it'll just come back right now but I still click on the inbox every time I log in, hoping.

I don't think it'll ever be fixed, even for a million dollars. My buddies really want to get their Guest Passes more conveniently.

I'm getting the feeling that the whole site needs to be remade for the modern day. Ideally, the reason why all of these "temporarily disabled" functions not being fixed yet is that they have been expecting to roll out a new site but keep having problems. That is, however, wishful thinking most likely.

Even if they did roll out a new site, I expect it would just be a copy of the VRV.co website code with Crunchyroll branding. Unless they coded new functions to add to it, that would also mean many of the "temporarily disabled" options would be completely absent, along with others that (mostly) still work, like the forums.

BrUh my messages haven't worked since Christmas 2018. Did they ban me from sending them or is the site just that broken?

On another note; I hate their "We won't tell you about the new seasons of anime all at once! Give us clicks! Ten days in a row!" is allowed to exist. Just tell me what dang shows are coming out so I can google them.

It's been like this for a while, dearest Flipmane. Over six months and counting.

Damn it, I see a notification for my inbox. What if one of my imoutos sent me a precious nude?! WHAT HAVE YOU, CRUNCHYROLL?! WILL YOU IGNORE OUR PLIGHT?!

However, since they took out the user profile option to send a private message, there has been some speculation that the website maintenance team does not plan to actually fix it, and what we see concerning "temporarily down" is an automated message.

Good grief.

That's right. If you become buddies with someone then you can exchange guest book posts (which are not private), but many people won't accept buddy requests from folks they aren't already familiar with.

I don't use the forums or PMs or any of that stuff, never have never will. But I just want to say this is really cheesing my onions because everytime I see notifications left unread it triggers me.

Can't help but feel this is server load related Crunchroll while it has had it's ups and it's downs has never been known for reliable servers and if I had to guess at all what was the cause and why months later it's still not been fixed it would be the servers are under heavy load and instead of adding new servers in to offset the work load they simply disabled a feature as in the long run it's a lot cheaper. Even stuff like HTTPS took YEARS worth of folks complaining about to get the security feature added.

It's kinda sad when folks can go to a pirate site and they have HTTPS but a website that does over $100 million a year in sales hadn't at the time but for some reason when Edge, Chrome, and Firefox all started throwing up notices and warnings the site is not secure than it becomes a issue.. Same thing with HTML they didn't add it because they felt it would benefit users or make the users experience better they added them because Flash is pretty much dead and will no longer be supported. If anyone knows anything about Flash it's a security nightmare, I like CR as a site I really do I don't like to rag on them but it comes from a sense of respect more along the lines of "get your shit together" type of feeling. I do not enjoy seeing the site like this but over the years I've learned nothing ever gets fixed or improved unless it directly impacts the companies bottom line.

I didn't realize Crunchyroll was also VRV.co

That's definitely what's happening here. As soon as they get the licensing to bring VRV.co global, Crunchyroll will become totally obsolete. Why invest in an incredibly dated site, fixing big data issues like inbox's when they're literally conspiring to shut down one of their own services as soon as they can.

But I like the CR app more, it’s cleaner. Much cleaner...

VRV is not something to replace Crunchyroll. Crunchyroll is an individual service of which a portion of the content available on it is available on VRV. But since the same company owns both Crunchyroll and VRV, the two sites are linked more so than the other services to which VRV also provides the same kind of content access. There are numerous things which VRV does not do which Crunchyroll does (Manga, News, Forums, Store); VRV is only video content. There is no conspiracy to shutdown Crunchyroll, at best they might wish to consolidate their websites at some point so that their parent company only has to do upkeep on a single site for these services rather than two distinct ones, and it would result in more services being brought to VRV.

The reason for the things on Crunchyroll's site not being fixed is likely due more to Crunchyroll as a company investing the funds it gets in acquiring various series to simulcast and stream, and their parent company not being willing to update the site itself while it still functions for it's primary functions for which people subscribe for (streaming anime and reading manga).
