Episode 1

In this story, it's not the big, bad wolf that's the problem, but Little Red Riding Hood herself. From the look of things, this figures to be a story-of-the-week kind of deal, which isn't exactly inspiring confidence in this show.

So it looks like this one will be this season's version of Merc Storia, based on a mobile game and a series of mostly unrelated stories surrounding reoccurring characters in a fantasy world.

It looks like it might be a little more serious than Merc Storia though, but still fairly kid friendly.

The first episode certainly played around with the idea of fate and those who blindly accepted it, to the point of panic when their known fate was altered, and in the case of Red Riding Hood fearing her fate and resenting those who expected her to adhere to that fate.

I can certainly see why she would be bitter about it. I kind of wish her mother and the Huntsman had said "screw fate, we're not sending her off to be eaten" at the end.

Now I'm wondering whether this is a character collecting series. Did they just collect Red Riding Hood? Will one of the heroes be able to transform into Red Riding Hood in the future?

And how is Red Riding Hood related to fire powers? That's just crazy.

Okay, maybe if she had a stuffed bear...

There's a bunch of different versions and interpretations of the folktale. Some theories associate it with representing the myth of the Sun being swallowed by night and re-emerging at dawn. Some versions involve fires.

I wonder if they're going to explain how Alice got his bookmark. Really, the fractured fairy tales premise isn't that interesting, but it has to be better than Merc and his genie in a bottle.

So it's a story-book world where everyone has a script and plays through their roles, and does so through generations without question. Or at least if they do question it, they throw everything out of whack. The four protagonists themselves have decent chemistry, but the setting is aggressively uninteresting. I take it the anime is an adaptation of a game, and unfortunately the setting feels too much like simple NPC maintenance.

Also, I know they're taking artistic license with their storybook adaptations, but how does Tao resemble Goliath in any measure? And for that matter, why is he embodying a villain?

If I had read the series synopsis before watching the first episode, I would have been a lot less interested. As it is, I'm not too keen on the whole book of fate thing- feels far too scripted and game-like. I have no issue with game adaptations, done well, but sounds like even the game has this gimmick. The character designs are nice, and their abilities are kinda cool, so I'll wait and see, I guess.

geez that was confusing...based on a mobile game, ah that makes sense. Not gonna be able to get into this one, Cinderella and Alice fighting skills are not something I would be too gung ho about if I was fighting "hey you can turn into Alice from Alice in Wonderland to help you fight the bad guys!"..."Uhh do I have to?"

Is it just me or does Tao not fit with the others.

This is a guy who clearly wants to attract attention, and yet knows no one is going to remember him once things get "tuned". You can see it in his reaction to being reminded that no one is going to remember these events. It's a fact that he hates but can't do anything about

and then there is the person he transforms into. Goliath.
Alice, Cinderella, Robin Hood...they are all main characters of their story
but Goliath isn't. If anything he's the villain of his story
