Hello All! First Post Here and Literally just found out moments ago there's a community here...Nice too meet all yall!!

So Im thinking of attending the fanimecon?crunchyroll expo? both? It'll be my FIRST time going to an event. Couple of questions...

1) Would I be judged if I dress casually like shirt and jeans? Im a noob and don't know if I can dress up.

2) I don't really have friends that are interested in this general field of interest....would it be engaging enough to attend alone?

3) And I'd love to just hear various experiences yall had going to an event!

Thank you for your time and hope to hear from some of you soon

1.- if someone judges you, it's an asshole that does not deserve your attention. Go dressed as you wish

2.-on the very least its nice not to be with other people because you can walk arpu d without being pressured by anyone else. It shouldn't be an issue. Also, In general people is very friendly on conventions

3.-whatever you wear, get something comfortable, you'll walk a lot and it can actually be a very very long day. Not sure if you can enter with food but if it's possible, carry a couple snacks, usually food inside conventions is crazy expensive and you want your money into other stuff

It would not be weird at all. I've been to about eight fanimecons and both CRX conventions and have never worn anything more than a T-shirt and shorts. I do want to cosplay someday though but casual is comfortable. No one is going to judge you these are fun places to be!

Speaking of fun, there is absolutely lots of fun to be had even if you're just kicking it alone. Two of my con experiences have been on my own and I had just as much fun as when I am with my friends. Having said that, it is fun to have a party to enjoy the con with, if you're at the convention and just want someone to hang out with even for just a little bit feel free to hit me up with a private message. I'm always down for another companion.

Whatever you choose I hope you have tons of fun!

I'm actually not sure how single day tickets work because I always end up getting weekend tickets. But yeah those will probably start selling tomorrow when the convention starts. I recommend it! Have fun!

1) That's all I wear! Whatever is comfortable for you.

2) Neither do I, except my wife. She can't always make all the days, so any days she can't, I go alone. Totally fine! It's fun to be at them with my wife, but solo is fun too.

3) I say get out there and give it a shot! Yes, this is after the fact for FanimeCon, so if you didn't make it, try CRX2019.

I did end up going. It was really amazing. I've been to every Fanimecon since 2013 and I felt this one was the best so far! They really pulled out all the stops for their 25th anniversary. I'm still sad it's over but luckily AX is just around the corner and then CRX after that!

I'm heading to San Jose in August for Crunchyroll Expo. It's going to be a busy month because I'm also going to Honolulu Comic Con here in Honolulu, Hawaii and Anime Revolution in Vancouver, British Columbia.

I've been a photographer for about 4 years and I've had a heavy focus on cosplay photography for the past 2 years. I'm taking bookings for cosplay photoshoots at Crunchyroll Expo if anyone is interested. You can check out my work on Instagram @swallowtailphotostudio
