The first episode is now up on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Somewhere-not-here/dp/B07TVV16BV/

Epsiodes 2 and 3 are coming later today.

Episode 1

That opening is really something seeing that it's by the same band that did the first Banana Fish opening.

It begins with a flashback as Leif tells Thorfinn the story about his father Thors. He picked up a slave and everything is set into motion as Thorfinn is quite curious about the world determined to reach a place called Vinland across the sea. That was quite an impressive start there going to show times are tough.

I saw all three episodes (3 of them aired today while the first one streamed yesterday) Going by this current pacing, it's adapting about 3-4+ chapters per episode.

Mostly, we are focused on a young Thorfinn and his adventures. However, one thing that really strike as unique is the Viking World setting. It brings together a harsh world characters have to adapt to in order to survive. There's also the war concepts. I'm also really glad they kept the violence and even have some anime original scenes.

Episode 3 had more scenes focusing on Thors, another prominent character in the show. We'll see more of him this season.

The OP and ED theme songs are phenomenal, particularly the one by Aimer.

Yes, the ED is great!

Just watched the first episode and I like how they started with the flashback. Smol Thorfinn is adorable!

I just want to say thank you for always being so reliable in locating, and posting, the links for the new shows that are on Amazon. I personally find it annoying and sometimes frustrating (after one season in which I tried to be diligent myself), to repeatedly search for a new title over hours or days until it finally shows up so I am very grateful for your efforts.

This is now in my watchlist and I expect I will start watching at some point later today.

Episode 2

The first scene goes to show just how savage vikings are, but Thors is not like them. He wants'to avoid wars at all costs as he used to kill people, but he then came to hate it and after meeting his wife Helga, he left the Jomsvikings striving for a peaceful life. But that's wishful thinking seeing that after Floki threw down the gauntlet, the villagers were all to thrilled to be fighting again. And then Thorfinn finds a sword where he is told by his father that he has no enemies despite the war he's about to fight. This episode goes to show that Thors just wants to live a peaceful life, but in this era there are wars that just can't be avoided, especially since his former mates are coming for his head, and Floki is so hellbent on destroying Christianity.

Episode 3

So it turns out that Thors, once known as the Troll of Jom, also has a daughter named Ylva, who is Thorfinn's older sister, and he established quite a close relationship with Ari. So it's off to England, and while he meant for Thorfinn to stay behind, he sneaks on board the ship. And then battle ensues as Askeladd leads the Jomsvikings to ambush them. This episode paints Thors as the ideal father figure that everybody needs, especially in a time like this. But it's a shame that he can't escape his past as his former comrades are none too forgiving for deserting them. Things have just been clicking on all cylinders so far as it's setting the stage well for tremendous character development.
