I have to sing the praises of even the architecture in this show. The designs, and some of the framing, even of incidental scenes, is really good.

The designs are good because they're based on the real ziggurats of Ur that are mostly still standing today, the anime just "restores" them to what they probably looked like in their prime (with some embelishment).

Got through episodes 1-5, still a bit confused about the fateverse and what not but one thing i can say is that this show has really clean and crisp fight scenes

Yes and indeed this is what makes it wonderful. I knew they were based on Babylonian ruins, and give them all the credit for bringing them back to life in such superb fashion. They even take the time to render minor buildings and houses not just this palace, and create a fantastical yet sort of historical setting.

I feel like im watching a anime that's in the third season, what a waste of time! Dropped. Gave it a chance panty shots yes ok whatever. Everyone gender swapped into females, yea. Just lack of info on how this all even happened.

yeah that is probably the biggest problem with the show. If you haven't been playing the phone game you are pretty much dropped into Part 8 of a 9 party story.

The two prelude things try to explain some of it but really there is so much missing information for anyone who isn't playing the game

But..complaining about underskirt shots really? No- my case I don't think it's a problem that it's based on a game I know little about, because I've watched enough Fate anime to understand how it works. I'm glad to not know the details because, if I knew the game it would spoil the anime- OR watching the anime would spoil the game. And who wants to watch characters act out something they're playing interactively already?
Fate lor is already famously dense and self-contradictory. My only ever gripe has been making male heroes into females; DaVinci is the most absurd example but at least they made her look *sort of* like Mona Lisa (or as some theories once had it that mona lisa was based on DaVinci himself)

DaVinci is kind of a special case. He deliberatly changed his own Summoning to appear as Mona Lisa. He wanted his exterior beauty to match the beauty of his mind.

but if you think that's nuts just check out Thomas Edison

That's as bad as Charles Babbage.

Episode 10

Here comes Lucoa, and this goddess who speaks random Spanish phrases sure loves to tease just like in the game. And the Jaguar Warrior is back gathering bodies in a hilarious way. Just like that, Jaguar Warrior joins the party as this cat is looking to defeat Lucoa. So it's off to Eridu to square off against Lucoa. That was a surprisingly funny episode there, though I kind of expected it knowing the kind of person Lucoa is from the game, that combined with the Jaguar Warrior having Taiga's personality.

1. I need to catch up. Oddly enough Leonidas came for me in the game(Ushi was one of the first servants I got)

2. I used Lucoa in the game and I wasn't expecting Spanglish

I'm glad they kept this line from the game. It just wouldn't be a Fate anime without a line like this.

Oh Quetzalcoatl sure was fun, the Japanese Spangrish sounded better than Engrish Also Jaguar What a goofy character, loved how they all just ignored her. So I guess we're going to get a flustered Ishtar scene every episode now? Oh well they're still fun, her seiyuu just delivers those lines so well.

And how can you not appreciate the effort that goes into these fight scenes week after week to give us shots like this

that's some top notch crotcherography (looks like Q is flopping around free like Ushiwakamaru )

looking forward to more next week

Well... after 9 consistently good weeks, there had to be a throw-away episode eventually I guess?
It felt like this one was trying outwardly to be a joke...
And where's the SJWs aren't they going to scream "cultural appropriation!" or some other woke slogan because of Quetzacoatl's character design as a fair skinned blond girl?
..But i thought.. a Mesoamerican goddess in ancient Mesopotamia, heh, okay

Quetzalcoatl as a girl is apparently a result his/her association with Venus and of mankind associating Venus with Aphrodite .

Episode 11

And the party makes it to the Temple of the Sun where there's a giant axe to be tossed at Gorgon. But before that, they need to deal with Lucoa, and instead of smashing the sun stone as Ritsuka was instructed to, he decides to fight her with a test of courage. While that was reckless, he did get a contract with Lucoa and the axe. So with that, Ritsuka has another goddess at his side, but now Gil has been taken to the underworld. Quite a bold move that Ritsuka made, but nevertheless while it did achieve the desired result, that was totally risky. And then there's a lot of info dumping there at the end, something that those who have played the game will know what was being talked about.

I did mention this spoiler before, but I'm going to say it again since it was brought up through that flashback conversation with Holmes. Read this only if you have cleared the final singularity.

And just like that, Gil is dead. No big deal. Happens to everyone.

It's hilarious how every goddess except Gorgon has been won over by Ritsuka. Harem Protagonist EX too strong.

Wasn't expecting a Sherlock scene. Cool to see him animated.

Wow I think Quetz is my new favorite character, I love onee-sans and her thoroughly enjoying herself while beating the snot out of everyone is too fun, probably one of the best fights so far. So frenetic even pausing it it was difficult to tell what was going on.

Of curse mucho crotcho this week too

Yes Quetz wears blue underwear, she must shop at the same store as Ushiwakamaru

sorry for the obstruction I try to get these without pausing but sometimes it's impossible

Anna hasn't been as good since she came back

It was difficult to see how Quetz was fighting until I paused it but she was doing a lot of kicking and then flying leg scissoring everyone into the ground, Jaguar's "I'm going to die" was hilarious, also boob

whoever did the animation this week they were definitely taking liberties with anatomy and doing some funky poses

Mash getting clotheslined was pretty brutal

Fujimaru finally gets an Ishtar lap pillow and lucky that axe is big enough for Gorgon Also Gilgamesh is dead?

So it's back to excellence once again with the Quetzcoatl fight. Fight choreography was amazing, the sound was impressive, not sure if I like how it resolved but the plot has definitely moved to a new milestone as the sinister past of Dr Rohan is raised, nicely foreshadowed in the Episode 0; for those not playing FGO... but this is the guy who kept Mashu imprisoned in a windowless cell her entire life with no contact from others, so he never seemed like a good guy from the beginning.

I love Fuji-ne, she has the bestest reactions to EVERYTHING
(and I love how tiger-suit is crying too!!! ahhh!!!!)

The moments between Fujimaru and Ishtar have brought them closer together each time, always in the night, some nice romance

Its a recap this week. Based on the airing schedule, it looks like we won't be getting episode 12 until next year.
