Granted, the way I was using it is probably not how a queue should be used, so I don't really have a problem losing this feature...

Haha, I did the same thing.
I'd have my currently watching at top and then once done would put down the bottom based on where i would rank them.

Anyone else here use queue as a ranking system too?

When you organize your queue top to bottom like your own watch anime list just for an update to jumble it all it from recently watched.

I did the very same, but my list was so long that my watched-and-ranked component was mostly seasonal until I had time to really drag down my watched shows and sort them in a more absolute scale. I also arranged my currently watching shows either in terms of developing favorites or in terms of day of broadcast so I could easily figure out what to watch any given day to keep up with a season. Now if I fall behind in watching a show by two or more episodes and watch other shows that catch my fancy in the interim, that missed show falls way down the list. I really wish that at least we would have gotten an announcement first before decimating our queues so I could capture my list in a spreadsheet or some other form. Now I have no idea what might have fallen off the list (I know In/Spectre fell off my queue after this event, for example, but at least that was fresh in my memory to re-add).

DO NOT READ THIS POST!!

I came to vent my discontent about the change to the queue that happened over what I thought was the last few weeks. I read the initial post by shinji on this thread and felt the explanation was rather reasonable.

So what's the big idea then?!?

This change and enhancements were announced in the "Why has my Queue changed?" over a month ago.
While reading most of the responses before I posted some snide remark, I soon noticed many of the were very selfish and bitter anger.
Now don't get me wrong, I am not happy about about the TEMPORARY removal of the MANUAL SORT option.
HOWEVER, if the reason is technical and necessary for a smooth transition as enhancements are made on the back end, then I am perfectly all right with that. The very small amount I pay for this monthly service doesn't equate to me being entitled and posting like a troll. It's both immature and unproductive for the fan base.

In the end, Crunchyroll LOVES us as we (paying members) are the hand that feeds them and the content providers.
YES, this transition is a pain, BUT if the payoff is a better manually sort items experience and carry over to the main mobile platforms, I am nothing but EXCITED!

Finally! Those survey's I responded to have been heard!!

Just saying you're getting uber upset over something that isn't a huge deal. So I was upset as well but I mean its not that much of a hassle. In the long run, if it turns out better who really cares. If this is such a make or break thing for you then we clearly have different things we have different priorities for a streaming service

I'd sort them into simulcasts and rank which ones I most wanted to see. For example if I was off for a week or something with no internet or access to UK Crunchyroll then came back and had a week's worth of simulcasts waiting for me I'd rank them in the order I'd binge them. After the simulcasts I'd put the show I'm currently watching at the bottom and work my way up the list. Again I don't think this is how they intended us to use the queue but it was my favourite way of doing it

A brief list of things Crunchyroll promised and either took a long time or never delivered on:

1. Offline downloads on apps
2. An HTML5 player with all the functionality of the old Flash player
3. Fixing forum DMing
4. Better video encodes
5. A functional manga reader
6. Manual queue sorting.

It's not just "one little thing". This whole site has gone down the tubes ever since they got bought out, and it's not going to get any better.

Me too I used to sort all my unwatchable anime in a personal order that ranked them depending on how many episodes there was , if it was completed or waiting for another season, or currently airing. Then I moved all completed shows to the bottom I was able to keep track of my upcoming anime plans as well as formerly completed ones and which I'd be willing to rewatch or buy the dvd set of. Now I'm back to my anime list as well and not really interested in crunchyroll as much cause I can get a lot of this on hulu or funimation and they have manual sorting.other then the hard work I put into ordering my anime I was really only sticking with crunchyroll as my main anime subscription cause of loyalty and being a member since early on.

I decided to give them one more month to fix it but if there's no fix or even an update by the end of march I'm just leaving.

Yeah, we already knew you were in the process of updating it and will give us back the features we lost. The problem here is that we lost them in the first place and have no idea when your PAID SERVICE will be functional again. Any web developer getting paid should know not to remove necessary features for an extended period of time and only let their users have the unfinished beta version.

Restore the old version, work on your update at your own time and expense, not ours. You can easily do an opt-in beta, a/b testing, or some other user testing model that doesn't force your users to have a terrible experience. The fact that you are not doing this makes me feel that either your developers have never done proper testing, or they don't care because CR said it doesn't matter if the users suffer in the meantime.

I was just about to say the exact same thing... What ever happened to websites being developed behind the scenes and then pushed to the live site when things are working? There's no reason at all to remove things from a live website so you can add other things that are not yet ready, unless you screwed up with the site in the first place and have no way of doing so...

I only signed up today but with all the issues your website has and the lack of many english dubs today will also be my last day using this awful website...

My, it seems Crunchy Roll truly has been up to work. I'm glad to see they're trying to update the site and improve things. It's nice to see they're trying. I can see they put in a lot of effort to improve the one thing they really didn't need to at this given time. As much as they're efforts are there... I do say the choices they've made... have been rather.. poor to be frank.

Personally, I would have liked for them to have focused on other parts of the site, like fixing things that genuinely have been broken for quite sometime. What do I mean? Well allow me to put in an example. Perhaps some of you might have experienced a lovely little warning when ever you tried "liking" or "disliking" someones comment? Or perhaps your comment didn't go through, and of course forcing you to go and re-type your entire comment before refreshing only for it to have gone through? Perhaps if comment glitches isn't enough, I'm sure many people would love to have their guess pass warning fixed. I'm sure it's well known at this point, oh, you know the "You receive your guess pass today!" and you... had gotten that little message 5 months ago... Or perhaps when that little sneaky orange bar isn't full on an episode you watched of an anime you've enjoyed and been waiting for the next episode! I sure love when that one happens haha, my look at me I'm getting a bit ahead of myself there. Haha, I digress.

My point here is, with this unannounced update I ended up losing something that I used everyday. For some this might not be the biggest issue, however for me it very much was. What was that you ask?

Allow me to enlighten you. For you see I would use the 5 video history on the queue page as a means to continue watching shows, granted they were too short to be considered for a queue. The type of shows I would put to my queue list had to meet a certain set of circumstances.
What are those circumstances you ask? Those would be, A on-going anime that has caught my attention, an anime that is extremely long and an anime that is long/ don't get updated often.

Like for some examples of on-going anime would be In/spector and Somali, An anime that is extremely long would be One Piece and
An anime that doesn't get updated often would be Yu-Gi-Oh!.

My, I'm dragging this out now aren't I? Basically, I would constantly use the videos on the side. I wouldn't mind the history tab, however it's extremely slow to load for me sometimes and honestly I would had preferred history to be on its own. By this, I mean clicking history right off the bat rather than clicking queue then clicking that history tab.

That's just my issue I suppose. I understand why so many people are upset/frustrated with this. Regardless of my minor inconvenience I genuinely wish they had handled this better. The lack of transparency before forcing it upon it's users is what I think most people are upset about. I feel the next thing would be the lack of freedom / creative means for sorting the queue that used to be there. And the fact of people lists that were carefully sorted and organized become a bloody murder scene to put it lightly.

For me I didn't freak out like others did since you know, I barely used my queue that being said I also wasn't too happy with this change.
Granted according to them it's temporary however I know that they won't make it as they had it before. And that is what truly saddens me.

Hope you enjoyed reading my random blurb of text there stranger. And I hope you have a good day.

TL:DR The cruel Crunchy roll team took away my PRECIOUS 5 video history on the side and now I are sad. I know there be a history tab but it SERIOUSLY slow and not fun o n o.
(If you plan to reply to this please read the text above it explains my reasoning. The TL:DR does not.)

I did read the rules just wanted to state a few things.
By "bloody murder scene" I mean in the sense the collecting of clues in the after math, you have to take a picture of every blood stain to document it, it'd take a very long time.
And by "Cruel" I do not mean cruel as in being horrid but rather the sense of cruel like.. A cat who is trying to catch the red dot. No matter how much the kitty tries... the red dot... always... escapes.. TTnTT!

This is my first time posting on a forum basis and I wanna make sure it doesn't get me into trouble you know... ^^;;

Oh look. Crunchyroll's still investing time and money into their woke American cartoon instead of fixing all the problems I listed in my previous post.

I don't know if anyone else has had this problem as well. But, ever since this change has happened, I'm having trouble with the starting and stopping of the video I'm streaming. Also, Chromecast has been spotty at best. Thank goodness that I have my Windows app or I wouldn't be watching anything.
