Now I understand what they meant by the "cute shop scenes". I hope they add in more radio music It was really spot on. A certain nostalgic feel to it. They found the saddest blues to play. I was ready for the drama to chime in but it's more sentimental than anything.

Actually it's 11. The TV broadcast portion has 5 more, but there's an ONA version that will follow for 6 episodes.

Rou continues to be a complete selfish asshole.(But that's what happens when you're going through puberty ) Shinako is treading on dangerous ground imo.

That ED though, HAAAAAAARU!!! I really hope Haru and Rikuo end up together

I guess I want him to end up with Haru, even though he would have a shot with Shinako, so things kinda go according to plan. This might be the most cruel way to go, though. But at least that way Haru would know that she isn't just the second best and Shinako could move on.

When Ro got all worked up in this ep his voice started sounding super familar to me. Looked it up and its Natsuki Hanae, the same VA that did Tanjiro from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.

These past few episodes centered around Shinako and Rou are making me lose interest in the series. Shinako is sort of bland as a character, understandably as she's shifting from grieving into moving on. Rou seems to only be there as a "pushing" point for Shinako and is written in the most annoying way. Granted he's a high school boy who doesn't understand why Shinako is pushing away, but he hasn't gotten a redeeming moment to show that he's not one dimensional. The only times where I like him is where he's in art school focusing on his own thing instead of trying to "protect" Shinako.

I hope Rikuo and Shinako either get together or fall apart in the next episode so Haru gets more featured in the upcoming episodes.

Episode 8

Rikuo has been promoted to full-time at the photo studio, which means he can quit his convenience store job and do something far more fulfilling for his career. That goes to show that he just needs the motivation. And while Rikuo is not aware of it, Haru and Shinako are both in love with Rikuo and are battling each other for him. Seeing that Haru and Shinako go to the convenience store often that they were slow to get the message, but while it's great for Rikuo, not so much for Haru as it means fewer opportunities to see him. And then Shinako has a meal prepared for Rikuo in his apartment. That was some great development there as Rikuo is finally moving up in life. But poor Haru is feeling left in the dust seeing that Shinako is making her move on him. It will be interesting to see where this leads to.

Why did that turn of events not surprise me at all...

I can simply muster no sympathy for Shinako at all, for those determined to be the architects of their own misery I say "just get on with it" And as for continually going back to cooking for the father and Rou, what's she trying to prove? I am though intrigued how this meeting will go, oh and if Rou tries to pull some stunt with Shinako, well regardless of no blame attaching to her, don't expect that to earn any sympathy from me.

But Rikuo frustrates the hell out of me, just let Haru have some of your time you moron, what's the worst that could happen!?

Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh.

Again, the show's facial expressions were good; made use of the classic hair covering eyes during that pseudo-rejection.
I feel for Haru and think she should bail; she's too good for him, but her heart's grip is ironcast.

Maybe staying single is the best for everyone.

I don't know what happens in the source material but I will admit to being curious about how it all goes. Given what we've seen so far in the anime, I just don't feel there's enough long term storyline here to fill out a long series. Then again, an extremely common issue with manga/LNs is that they just keep bloating themselves with continual manufactured setbacks and repeat scenarios just to drag on forever (in the process often destroying the meaningful and intention filled stories they started with). I would hate to see that happen here so I'm torn on checking this one out after the anime has run it's course or leaving it be. I guess it will depend on where and how the anime wraps up.

Anyway, about this episode, it was a really solid slowdown from the pace of last episode. I'm not surprised at all to see everyone sort of slam the brakes on here and take stock of things. Like it or not, things certainly keep inching along towards what feels like the inevitable. Some more great little visual moments in this one. Very strong framing choices and it's very interesting to see where they focus on detail and where the intentionally leave it out. It's may not be the most instantly eye catching show out there but it has way, way more skill and style than 90% else of what's out there.
