Lol, Haru wants the confession done over again. Funny but for a heavy drama show like this, it showed a lot about how human relationships can develop.

Never was a fan of Shinko but she's a very important character for Rikuo's own development.

Overall, a solid show, one of the better romance-dramas I've seen over the years.

A lot of repetitive episodes and they resolved everything so fast in the last chapter. Disapointing, but at least Haru won.

Well, that definitely wasn't the way I expected things to end and it wasn't really the way I wanted them to end. But, that said, I did enjoy the ending itself. And the show did come back around just a little bit to it's original premise as well. The confession scene was excellent.

Overall, I'm not too sure where I stand on this one. The series started out superb and then devolved into a fairly standard if well written romantic drama that improved again at the end but didn't reach the same heights it started at. It's sort of like a meal that starts out with an amazing appetizer but follows it with a merely good entree. It's enjoyable enough but not really that satisfying because you had a tangible taste of what it could have been.

Recommended? Maybe, but I'd be sure to give the warning that it's much more of a standard romantic drama than it seems at first.

And now I'm really curious about what the heck is taking so long in the supposedly exhaustive source material. Does it just keep the story going after where the anime ends or is it actually more of a different story altogether?
Manga readers feel free to spoil me with a spoilered quote.

I enjoyed it, but at times it was painful to watch, since I seem to share some qualities with Rikuo.

They wrapped it up about as well as they could have in 12 episodes. This would have been a great "turning point" episode to signal a sea change, and then the last ~6 episodes could have focused on the couples in their respective relationships.

It's to the show's credit that while this episode felt rushed, it didn't feel as rushed as it could have. Some cute moments, including, Rikuo's self-talk on the train/bus and the confession scene.

Rou + Shinako is pretty cringey to think about, but I'm pleased that Rikuo grew as a character, showed some decisiveness, and ended up with Haru.

The animation and direction were on point as always.

8/10 overall.

woah, they skipped so much and the finale is really rushed...
the manga i rate at 9.5/10, will need to rate anime at 7-8/10...

I have been wondering who was that Rou's friend that he went to stay with... So, he is the newly created character to replace the older girl he went to stay with for a while in the manga...

original manga ends with Haru saying:
"why does my first kiss have to smell tobacco?"
too much have been cut off, I am afraid to say.
still, 7-8/10 is a good anime

They just released a new volume this year showing the after, with some short stories, so i think that will be what the OVA's will be about, or maybe the parts they cut off...

So... was that Shinako conceding she was just messing around with Rikuo's life all this time for her own convenience?

Well fuck her...

And fuck Rikuo for thinking he loves Haru without ever showing a single sign of regard for her...

Of course I'm happy for Haru, she's young, a few misguided relationships won't do her any harm and her current "joy in the moment" is an OK emotion, but Rikuo had better pull his finger out and start actually being deserving of her.

I didn't really parse what happened at Rou's place but hey who even cares :P

Hmmm that felt too sudden really for Rikuo to have an epiphany about a love he never really showed us about in an entire season, and for Haru to be OK with it so soon, even after he said it'd feel like she was an insurance policy. I was expecting people to go their separate ways, and maybe a montage of their futures.

I guess I'm happy for Haru though, and Shinako was simply worthless.

Though I had high expectations for this series at the start, and it was a shame it didn't deliver from the middle onwards, I did like the technical delivery of this series, especially the emotions and atmosphere, so I think I'm willing to give the manga a go.

PS: Kansuke best wingman.

Good luck on finding it...
I see French and German versions only. (I read the Japanese version)

There is the Lament of the Lambs, not much else from Kei Toume outside Japanese

I think it was a situation where both Shinako and Rikuo realized that they were forcing something that was never going to work. Given the show's themes, it seems like they went into the relationship thinking it was just the next logical step given their friendship in college, and for Shinako a way to move beyond her hangups about the past.

Was the episode rushed? Yup. But the emotions made sense to me.

Well to be fair, he did show concern for her and jealousy toward her male friend earlier in the series.

To me the confession scene felt a lot like Rob's confession to Laura at the end of the film High Fidelity—super awkward, but sweet in a roundabout way and a sign of personal growth instead of "settling."

Shinako and Rou deserve each other though, seriously... Good luck with your new life guys.

i looked in amazon and crunchyroll only, true, not sure if outside those sites
sure, you can find them in other not official also....

Concerning the show, I think another thing to take into consideration is that Japan in the 90's was even more stricter than it is today, and even today JP is really strict (being the reason so many darker sides Japan have even now - i am descendant)

I will not say what happened with Shinako and Rou, it might come up in the OVA

for those unaware, the one that i like the most from the author Kei Toume, is the one that is ongoing right now. Kuuden no HimeGimi.
Not sure if there will be a translated version, but it's on its 3rd volume now in Japan.

next on my list is Lament of the Lambs with some supernatural things.
Mahoromi is another with some supernatural things going on.

never felt like reading his other work, Kurogane, but it is the most widely known works.

Yeah, I like his work

The more I think about this, the more I think this would have been so nice as a 22-24 episode, 2-cour, slow-burn slice-of-life/romance that took the source material and carefully trimmed and rearranged situations and subplots to fit an anime's pacing and storytelling needs. Corkboard ED for the first 11-12 ep and arcade ED for the rest, altered slightly as the plot progressed. Maintain the same animation and direction quality throughout and this would have been one of the greats.

As it was, the emotional payoffs of the last episode just didn't have enough time to "simmer" in order to feel earned.

....ugh I hate all these people Rou is one selfish, bastard, Shinako is just an idiot, Rikuo is a loser and Haru is an even bigger loser. Now excuse me I'm going to have to reevaluate my relationship with this show

https://streamable.com/tm4bws The extra part at the end...and ugh
These people all need their head examined

Really makes me wish the show was about the coffee shop owner, at least she seemed normal.

hey i have a question, ehm i have heard that these "6 extra episodes" are just 2 min extras which means that this was really the last episode, is that true? and is Shinako making no progress at all in the end ? (does she love Rou or not im confused)
and thank god Haru gets a happy ending even though it was rushed in the end.
