Rou is kinda unlikable. That doesn't have to be a bad thing, because it gives room for imrovement, but if he stays the way he is right now, he is inly a big distraction.

Honestly, haru is the only main character, who isn't compleatly stuck in the past. She's the only one that is enjoyable to watch. I kinda fear dor her because of that. This is a drama after all, and she's the easiest to f up.

Haru is already fucked up. She just hides it better than the others.

It's really a show about 2 teenagers that are trying to act like adults and 2 adults acting like teenagers. Operative word: Acting. Haru and Rou aren't being adults so much as trying to act like their preconceived ideas of what that concept means to them. Rikuo and Shinako are stuck in a state of adolescence they're trying (or not trying) to progress out of.

First one to actual adulthood wins, maybe?

Yikes forget 6 degrees of separation this town has 2 at most. This has me worried as too many coincidences is usually a sign of poor writing. I hope this show proves me wrong as I am really enjoying this, even if these characters are all kind of messed up. I think sensei really needs some professional help, even the guys dad was able to move on. Her "love" seems really childish, I mean he hit her in the head with an eraser and called her stupid. I'm not one to dismiss the impact of a first love but did they even date? Seems more like she's using him as an excuse not to have any "adult" experiences.
And seems like Haru's weird charms might be working on the wrong guy, she may be "hen na yatsu" (weirdo) now but like in that one Ssinfeld episode sometimes all it takes is to get someone thinking about you, for whatever reason, then like an catchy song they can't get you out of their head. "CO-stan-ZA!"

I agree, that she is fucked up, they all are. But I have the impression that she#s the inly one who wants to change something about her miserable state. Everyone else just clings to some connection from the past.

Pretty well said, though one of the teenagers is much more of a bratty teen than the other. I think Haru is pretty well matured for someone her age, but yeah all the characters are definitely acting.

Wow, I really didn't expect pretty much everyone else to share my dislike of Ruo. Tbf I can appraciate the fact that he's going to cram school and trying to make something of himself, and he doesn't seem to be doing it just to try and impress Shinako. So that's a couple thing in his favor. But, I think, as a character those things actually work against him. It makes him seem a lot more like you're typical earnest anime character where everyone else in the show is lot different than the type of characters you usually see in an anime. So he suffers greatly in comparison to everyone else.

And, yeah, having he and Haru end up together just because they're the same age would be very lame.

The weakest episode yet. If they're going to show a lot of Rou they need to make up for it by showing a lot of Haru.

Episode 5

Here comes Minato, a professional photographer who is a former classmate of Haru's. He is Rikuo's new co-worker as he is taking on another job to be a photography publisher. Haru and Minato catch up with each other, and it appears that those two are falling for each other. But Haru isn't exactly serious about Minato. And then Rikuo explains his background that he quit college as things in college just weren't clicking. But after meeting Minato, he decides that he is going to leave the country and take pictures of stuff around the world with his new camera. That was a great turn of events there for Rikuo as he always had it in him, but life got in the way and he lost his passion for photography in college. So with that, it looks like Rikuo is finally on his way to having a real career seeing that he's too good to be just working at a conveni for a job.

So relaxing to watch this as always. Absolutely no Rou this episode, either. Maybe they heard us? Lol.

I like the fact that Minato's character and personality were sketched out even though he was only around for one episode. Seems like he served as the catalyst so Rikuo and Haru could clarify some things to themselves...

At first, I wondered where this new guy was going, and if it would lead to some love pentagon

He didn't really add much to the plot, but he felt surprisingly solid given the screentime he had, strove to be true to himself, and gave himself some closure? Kinda wished he could have been Haru's backup now, as we all expect it to go south sometime...

...gah, Haru gets an A for effort at least.

Lost of cute moments this episode and some nice progression as well. After hearing the source material is so long running I can't help but be a little worried though. Not so much that we won't get to see all of it on screen but more so that it will fall into the usual trap of going around in circles forever without actually getting anywhere.

I feel like this should be posted here.

So from this episode, it's becoming fairly clear Rikuo x Haru is the goal here...
