Sing "Yesterday" For Me Discussion

Still loving this. Some of the character animation is just amazing for a show this low-key, and this far into the series' run as well, like when Yuzuhara lit her cigarette in the apartment near the end. I feel like every episode nudges the characters forward just a little more and helps them clarify who they are and what they really want.
8.5/10 this week. |

Hmmm, this coincidence is at least believeable, but it's going to become empty if the show continues in this formulaic way.
Minato I've already forgotten about, and so will Yuzuhara - though we did get slight progress with clarification of Shinako's feelings. Bit of a dick move to brush off Haru in the alleyway like that though. |

I get the sense that was one of Yuzuhara's least selfish actions

A bit off putting for the show to put another "side character" episode in right after last week. Just like last week, it did help push the feelings of a main character along further so I can see the purpose overall but it kind of feels like we're wandering away from the main plot a little bit now. Things felt better with a tighter focus and cast, though I suppose a tight well paced story isn't in the cards if this is the sprawling story it's supposed to be. Definitely not enough Haru this episode either.
I don't know. Taken on it's own this was probably a fine enough episode and I did like the new girl as a character but put within the content of the rest of the show I just wasn't feeling it. |

While I appreciate the fact that Rikuo doesn't seem to be following the standard "OMG a MPDG is showing me the error of my ways" fast track, I really hope his character arc isn't done. He's not a very sympathetic character at the moment—passive, aimless, cynical, resentful, etc.
Also, did you guys catch the full corkboard at the end? ![]() |

The credits of the previous 5 episodes were played over a segment of the corkboard, but for the 6th, they zoomed out until you could see the whole thing for some reason... Maybe we'll get a different ED next time? Or perhaps they're trying to tell us that the more single characer-focused episodes of the first half of the run are done with...? |

HOOfan_1 wrote: You could have fooled me about Shinako not liking Rikuo. She really seemed to be trying to drag him into her life the last episode, and looked a little jealous of his interactions with Haru. Maybe she does love him, but doesn't realize it, or just wants to keep him around at arms length until she can try a relationship again. I guess my first instincts were right. Shinako is using Rikuo as a backup for her dead crush, much more than Rikuo is using Haru as a backup....because he hasn't really shown any interest in using her as a backup. Which coincidence? I don't think there were any coincidental "oh what a small world, we know the same people" incidents in this episode. Yuzuhara meeting Rikuo was not a coincidence. She knew where he worked and she was there to impose on the nice guy who she knew would allow her to stay at his place. |

I'm conflicted over Rikuo, I certainly don't think he deserves it, but I see enough of my directionless younger self in him to feel a tinge of vicarious sympathy. |

Just finished rewatching the episode, and I don't think ANY of the main 4 come off sympathetically at all at this point. We haven't seen Rou in two full episodes, Shinako's using Rikuo, Haru's being petulant and Rikuo is just passive. BUT absolutely none of this reflects poorly on the show---they're all just flawed people muddling their way through. In other words, I like that I don't like the characters, lol. |

That was the coincidence I was referring to - a school friend out of the blue with impeccable timing, BUT I conceded that given it was a schoolfriend, they did say that she asked around her former classmates for his whereabouts, which is believeable. |

A good episode, as usual. However, the less we see of Haru the less I tend to enjoy it. Still good, just not as good.
Yeah, one thing I was hoping for in the last episode was that the guy who was into Haru would confront him about how he's been treating her rather poorly. I hope he gets his eyes opened to that before too long. |
RIP Norm Macdonald, his fight with cancer was a draw.
