Well that was quite the S2 huh. You can really tell the amount of love the team has for this series. Just excellent. Hope for a S3.

Totally loved this season, all the characters grew.

What I want for the future. A proper arc of Shinomiya being ice queen and how they fell in love (no more tiny pieces of flashbacks), and more protagonism for Shirogane Kei.

We really didn't see Ai Hayasaka this episode except for alert head decoration beeping. I need a S3, but on Crunchy.

Amen and amen.

Interested to see how Funi dubs it though. I wonder if they can pull it off??

Honestly? I don't think Crunchy could. At least not as fast as Funi can. You notice Crunchy dubs starts weeks after the Subs. I just wonder how many US Seiyuus there is? It's not an easy job I would imagine.

Good grief, this show hit so many highs during its second season that the wrap up episode, as good as it was, seemed almost tame.

Was that meant to be a "The Prisoner" reference

And what a great call back to the OP from season 1

Season 3 asap please...

Great finale to another great season, I had my doubts with how it started but no doubt it was up to the same level as season one. Glad Chika got to shine in the finale, if I had one complaint it would be she didn't get enough attention. Loved how the president's dad actually gave him one good piece of advice in his life and after recalling it at the critical moment completely ignores it LOL Definitely would love a season three if they can keep up this level of excellence.

Than thus season 2 went out with a literal bang. It's surprising just how many ways this series continues to reinvent itself to keep things fresh. Season 3 when?

Yep they knocked this one out of the park. I think I liked season 2 even more than season 1.

10/10, A+

What kind of accent did the principal have? He was cracking me up.

This is in no way something I'm confident on, and might not have been considered by the staff at all, but it didn't sound like generic 'bad American accent' used in lots of shows at any rate. He uses random French words and there was the French get together in season 1, probably supposed to be French?

It seemed similar to the accent Hayasaka used when she was in her Haysaca A. Smithee persona around Shirogane

Like a fiddle!

Hadn't really been part of the thread this time, but this has still been a favorite. And it might not be the biggest boast, but I think it's the best of what's going to finish this season. The finale wasn't the best episode. My favorite I think was 10, and the best would either be 6 or 11. But 12 still did its job. It doesn't have to be the best. It just has to be a good send off which it can do either by forcefully clutching and holding down your interest (like another show this season) or by celebration. These segments were well crafted and chosen to end. We get a story of how Kaguya is despairing at the loss of her precious times with everyone as she is forced to move on. But "anime is not death." This isn't the end for us, and it's not for Kaguya. She can take what she's experienced and look at a new future, and if she's feeling nostalgic she has her friends to share with. Now what better way to celebrate than getting everyone to do something silly with a cockamamie scheme from Chika?

She sets up an interesting order, and then what follows was a very amusing blend of showing everyone's development, idiosyncrasies, and inverting expectations. It's outside Kaguya's comfort zone. Ishigami is still a scareddy cat. Shirogane's ambition melts under these ridiculously inflated stakes. And my favorite, everyone looks on as Chika manipulates Miko into going in hard. They all think her so selfish. She is. And then they join in right behind her cheering Miko into showing strength in this moment! Who can you be so selfish around and still expect to have a good time. They're friends. Bang! The tie in with the ties in the end following their ties was real finale.

Now, I'm going to back up some.

Thanks. I really liked this segment. (Part 2 Episode 10) There wasn't a lot of Chika this season, but here she is with a great look inside. We get to see her compassion for her friends while her bubbly facade vibrates with frustration and stress until finally it snaps. Any conniving subtlety she had fails and is replaced by ripe sarcasm and haughtiness. All that mattered was vindication, and then Kaguya challenges Chika's passion for artistic expression with her cold pragmatism. Chika flips again. It no longer matters if she gets to look down as Kaguya struggles to instruct this landed goldfish of a dancer. She can't let her view of what's beautiful be mocked like this! The best performances come from the love of what you're doing. I'd go so far as to say that this is something Chika tries to carry to anything she cares about. It's what separates her methods from Hayasaka's. This was the Chika moment of the season, and even if by mistake all that blinding passion led to Shirogane's success.

Season 2 dropped a lot of the battle feeling it had originally, and turned into this drama with flirty and comedic elements. I didn't like that at first. I'm still kind of torn. Partly because that's where Chika had many shining moments. At least from how I deciphered her character, and that (she) was the most interesting part of the show to me. But we did get to see a lot of development, and some of it felt pretty good. I guess the author/director thought the show should also develop to implement it well. Overall, I still enjoyed this quite a bit.

(I agree the principal is probably French. His Japanese definitely says stereotypical foreigner, and his manner seems like how a Japanese person would stereotypically see a Frenchie with all of his interest in love, endearing friendships, and tre-tre-tre-tre bien!)
