Episode 5

What a difference sleep makes as Miyuki looks like a totally different person. He starts out all fresh and new, but then after overworking himself to the bone as usual, Miyuki is back to being his more normal self. And a tired Miyuki is quite a scary sight as poor Kashiwagi had to witness it. And the something resembling the Rose of Versailles theme song is played as Miyuki is a terrible singer, lip-syncing his way at the assembly and while others might turn a blind eye, nothing gets past Chika. So after some intense training from Chika, Miyuki is so much better that Chika couldn't hold back the tears. And then Kaguya has her own secret agenda when she says she will help Miko become president, but Miko's reaction was unexpected . That Miyuki sure is a man of mystery there as there's no telling what he's up to, and that singing part was especially hilarious. And now, it's onto the election.

I see Chiaka isn't taking Hayaska's challenge for best-girl lying down.

There's more substance in each of the vignettes this show is made up of than a full episode of most shows

I had to break out my dictionary but it was worth it. All of this was in highly polished political rhetoric.

Chika's Platform

Together with the students
This student council's doors are always open.
Please come any time for advice.
We strive to be an administration ever more in touch with the students.

For the sake of an enjoyable school life
We the student council honor student autonomy, and support an open-minded and free student life.
To us, freedom is not being bound by rules, allowing everyone the chance to foster their unique abilities.

Reforms that can only be done with a second term
If we continue, we'll have achieved the first continuous two-term administration in 10 years.
Using the experience gained last year, this student council pledges to make fundamental reforms to Shuuchiin Academy for the benefit of all students.

It's caused some anger on the internet.

The change itself is basically harmless, but the subtitle writer is basically inserting their own joke into the show.

For those of us watching it now, we know that there's no way that joke was part of the original script. Years from now though, people may think the joke was actually meant to be in there.

I have a friend that goes full ballistic when current time period jokes are thrown into a dub.

As far as the social distancing joke, it was good for a laugh, but in actuality I'm on the same page as please keep things as accurately translated as possible.

I'd be fine with the period jokes if Aniplex would just translate ALL the damn text on screen.

Saved by @marklebid as usual.

Episode 6

And now it's go-time as Miyuki and Miko square off to become student council president. Miko's work ethic is off the charts, but her public speaking skills totally suck. She was fumbling her speech, but Miyuki helped her out as despite being his opponent, Miyuki is a gentleman who wants to win in a fair fight. In the end, Miyuki wins, but the results were much closer and it will go a long way to helping her win next year. And to make things better, Miyuki wants Miko on the council. That was just great to see that Miyuki is always looking out for others, as well as going to show that Miko still has a lot to learn, but being on the council under Miyuki's leadership gives her a great opportunity to do that.
