Hey guys,
This is just a reminder / announcement on a few things that users need to remember when using CrunchyRoll. I thought I would discuss them here.
In a nutshell:
- Chain letters are against the rules and can get you in trouble - The supposed "Shinji letter" is fake.
- Duplicated forum topics are against the rules. - run a search for the topic under several possible keywords. Just try again if it sends you an error message.
- Personal threads are against the rules, but your questions can be answered in threads tailored for that kind of question = ).
- The first post in a new thread should be legible, and give some starting points.
- Old threads can be recreated as long as you consult a mod first.
- Be helpful and accepting in the forum with new members.
- If you make a report to the mods, be ready to provide evidence.
- Make reports, and mark spam in the comments. It's good for the community if done right!
- The current rules for adult groups, please read them in full.
- Have fun = ) that's what the site is for.

The first thing is Chain letters and Chain comments.

Chain Letters and Chain Comments Are Against Site Rules, So Don't Create or Forward Them!

Don't worry, nothing will happen to you or your family by not forwarding them.

A chain letter/comment is something that is posted in a video comment or sent via Private Messages(PM) which read along the lines of; "forward this to 5 people or something bad will happen to your mother."
These messages are not games. In most cases, they serve to spread fear and hate across the site. Recent chain-letters also serve to wreck the reputation of users who have offended the chain creator by accusing them of heinous crimes. Other chain letters try to impersonate site staff, like this one:

>>Hello there, it's shinji here! I hoped you enjoyed watching movies
>>on crunchyroll as much as I had creating them! :)
>>We are conducting a survey on all members to see how friends
>>are interconnected. With better knowledge of viewship, we are
>>able to organize and customize video files to better suit your
>>needs. Please forward this message to your every friend,
>>including me!
>>As a reward, for every 1000 message that contains this message,
>>the sender will receive 1000 CR points and free upgrade to Three-
>>Our servers are monitoring all message traffic. You have nothing
>>to lose, especially if you can help your friend to get a prize.
>>Note that duplicate messages to the same person will not be
>>counted. Spammers are not welcomes and will be banned without notice.
>>shinji ;P

This letter is fake, and not written by Shinji. Shinji or the Site Moderators will NEVER start or endorse a chain letter. DO NOT forward it. Especially not to me because I've received about a billion of them. Because of the rampant and potentially harmful nature of chain letters, your account can be banned for forwarding them. If you see them in the comments, mark them as spam. Once a comment has been marked several times as spam, it'll be forwarded to the mods so we can delete them. Now some for the forums users...

Be Nice in The Forums.

This is just a reminder to users to be nice. You don't have to love your fellow member, but it doesn't hurt to be civil. If someone makes a mistake or asks a stupid question, do not start insulting and putting them for it. Give them a friendly reminder or help them fix it. If someone says something intentionally offensive, just report it and ignore it. Feeding trolls (people who insult/say something controversial for the sake of starting arguments) is just giving them what they want, and it can get you in trouble with the mods.

Thread Creation and Recreation
OR No Duplicate Threads and no personal threads and quality control

Users have become lax when creating forum threads. So much so in fact that most new topics end up locked by the Moderators.

One reason is poor creation quality. As with all threads, your thread should reflect legibility and give some starting material. To give you a template of what good threads contain: 1. Introduction to the topic. 2. some given controversies/points/sources. 3. Author's opinion. Just saying something like "Discuss" or "wat do u think" for your first post is NOT proper forum thread creation! put a little more thought and energy into your threads, and keep your writing legible. (I've always believed in reading it out aloud to a pet or goldfish)

Another main reason these threads are locked is because the topic has been created earlier in the forum by another user under the same or very similar name. An example would be a new thread titled, "Favorite DBSK Song" and the original thread "DBSK Thread." The new thread is redundant, because the discussion of the band's favorite song can easily be discussed in the original. Duplicates can also be as simple as two "favorite anime" threads. Please make a search for a topic (using same and similar words) before creating new threads. The forum search is still a little buggy, so you might have to hit the search button again if it sends you a "The search is not available right now" message.

But say you find an old thread that you want to recreate. This is acceptable, BUT you must contact a moderator and gain permission first. The old thread has to meet some specifications. It has to be over 6 months old, and over 80 pages in length. Your post also has to reflect original intent.

Another thing: Personal threads asking for help on specific issues are also disallowed. They do not open up community discussion. Many threads already exist for this purpose. For example, creating a thread, "help me identify this manga" is against the rules, but you can ask the same question in the anime/manga help thread sticky.

Here are some helpful links for when you create a forum post
And now to clear up something that confuses a lot of people

The rules concerning adult groups.

A lot of people have been reporting these groups lately, but do not seem to know what the rules governing these groups. As of the moment, adult groups are discouraged, but are allowed to exist peacefully. As of this moment, the mods are deciding the official rules these groups must follow, or even if they'll be allowed, but the interim special rules they must follow are,

1. Their group status must closed or secret group.
2. No hentai/porn on the profile page.
3. No links to hentai/porn sites or images on the profile page.
4. PG-13 music on the profile page only.
5. Groups should screen new members and tell them what to expect.
6. Be responsible with invites - ex: don't invite 12 year old children in.

At some point we hope to have a personal filtering system that will block you from seeing adult groups. In the mean time, if the group is not violating the rules don't report them asking them to be destroyed because the content offends you. Just look away. = \ Also, so there is no confusion: Adult material is still banned within user profiles/galleries.

Also: since the rules concerning adult groups are in a state of change, it remains up to the site moderators to decide how they deal with the group - in short, they reserve the right to block the groups for any reason they see fit, whether they are within the rules or not.

Reporting to mods - encouraged, but be thorough and know the rules.

Just a small notice, but when you make a report to the mods, include some evidence or be willing to talk to the mod about the incident. Witnesses, and citing a reason why the person's actions warrant punishment is also nice.

That being said, I encourage you to make reports to the mods if you know the site rules fairly well. We rely heavily on users to point out when an offense has been committed.

Thanks for reading, have a great time with the site.
On the behalf of all mods,

Seriously, have fun with the place. That's what it is for.

Forum Moderator.

Almost over a year now. Just a recent resurgence.

Shinji wrote a topic on it before.

Also, if you see people advertising sites, mark them as spam please = \

People must be really acting up for you to have posted this XP. I think we can all agree that rules or not people hate chain letters/comments.
