the problem with direct downloading is sudden blackouts, power surges, the file you're downloading is hosted and you can't use a download manager/accelerator... you have to know how to set up your download rules so that you won't get banned from the site for bandwidth abuse... (happened to me all the time) and sometimes you overtweaked your download manager and got corrupted chunks of your downloaded file... (happens if its bigger than 50mb)

torrents are alright if the seeders are plenty... sometimes pranksters put spyware on the files or you get a fake torrent and you just downloaded a bunch of mumbo jumbo... i use peerguardian to help me detect fake torrents...

wow really?!? Direct downloading is still fatser for me. when i download bleach and naruto, it usually go fast for me even with over 8K of seeders. i'll finish a 300 MB vid in 20 min or less with direct downloading and torrent would still take more than 30 min for my bleach and naruto eps...

You're using a bad port then.

I have the same problem. I've never found a way to set up port forwarding for my computer, and it would screw my wireless. Alittle help?

Same Here, Since I use wireless I can never get into the right port so it always has a warning thing at the bottom of the screen. But be warned use torrents only for new videos. If you plan on downloading an old series do not use torrents, They will take forever.

IRC is better than torrents because you are assured a fair speed for downloading.

It's pretty damn simple.

1) Go look at your router and see if you can find a model number. Write it down. Now look at the company who made your router, and write it down.
2) Go to http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm.
3) Find the section for the company that your router originates from.
4) Find the model number and click the link.
5) Next you will see a list of programs that could be used for portforwarding. Get the name of your bittorent client. Find it in the list of programs. Then click on the link to continue.
6) Follow the directions on the page. (For god's sake they even give you pictures.)
7) Your done.

i use uTorrents but i have a question. whenever i am downloading my torrents and my brother is playing his online games on another computer, he says that they start to lag. i know that it has something to do with the bandwith, but could anyone tell me how to fix this problem so that we could be able to do both at the same time?

Unfortunately there are only a few ways to fix a bandwidth problem with sharing a connection and using torrents. Go into your u-torrent settings, and limit the bandwidth it uses to half or one quarter of the download and upload speed available to your connection....or shell out more money to your ISP for a faster connection. I personally opted for the faster connection made everyone I was sharing the connection happier. Now I can leave my torrents running while I stream something HD from Crunchyroll, and my family members don't come to me complaining about how their netflix HD video got chopppy or their game started lagging
