With PayPal, yes that is true. However, not with a debit card.
In fact, debit cards are far, far more difficult to get your money back than using a conventional credit card, even when it comes to unauthorized and/or fraudulent charges. If, for example, someone fraudulently charges a debit card - you have to pay a $50 liability fee if you report it within 48 hours. If you fail to do in time, you are responsible for paying up to $500 - and possibly your entire bank account balance if you wait 7-9 weeks. You would have to act extremely fast if you use a debit card. Banks can do this because there is no law to protect the buyer from that liability.
I do agree that Shinji made the membership & free trial very simple. =)

Oh & btw, that nasty treatment from the bank isn't likely if you have a Visa card. You should be protected by a Visa policy that protects you from that liability. All the other cards, however.......

Eh, I can't really justify getting a membership at this point, as I only watch a total of 3 shows from this site regularly...I use to come here to watch the live action/drama, but those have almost all (and I say almost, because there's maybe 1 or 2 that have been replaced...) since disappeared. If there were more anime or drama's, then I'd maybe reconsider. But for now, I can wait the week or so in between releases, or go to another site to download or watch... Sorry

I was unaware since my bank usually calls me in such a situation, and i take care of it right away. However my bank has never charged me a Penney. I guess you just go to a crap bank or something. I have a visa debit btw.

That was not an opinion, that was a question. An opinion would be something like "you shouldn't need a credit card for something free". What you wrote was clearly a question so i took it upon myself to answer it. Of course expressing your opinion is allowed, you just need to make your statement clear.

That is just the general experience of those who use debit cards that have no protection policies attached. It is more prone to scams because the liability almost favors the criminal behavior in the case the consumer doesn't act fast enough. The only thing that would be crap in this situation is if the consumer fails to act fast enough. The failure to do that isn't the bank's fault at all - nor does it have to do with the quality.

Okay, so I go to use my PayPal account.
Then PayPal starts asking me for credit or debit card.
My PayPal account doesn't have a CC connected to it (Which is why I clicked use PayPal!) , I have my bank account connected with it.
So now it won't let me continue without a cc or debit.
Kind of silly :s

You can easily tell the site has a a lot of younger users. As I said earlier, it'd probably be good to consider a referral system where people get rewarded premium access for referring users to the site who pay for premium access. That way, everyone has an opportunity to attain premium access in some form.
Just an idea. |
