Doesn't really matter right now anyway... I just checked and CR isn't letting anyone pay w/ even PayPal at this time for some reason. Why is this? -moose |

I would have preferred that the site had just opened the high definition streaming for all of its users. More users would be able to take advantage of this offer (as many users do not have credit cards).
While a Free Trial Offer requiring a credit card is not a scam, it is, indeed, a Business Marketing Strategy. It takes into account profit/loss margins, and retention rate of customers. It also relies heavily on the sociological behavior of the buyer; two weeks is a long time, so many will simply forget to cancel. Then a large portion of those who did not cancel in time will not call for a refund. Buyer behavior is also such that once customers have provided their payment information, many will resign to the thought that the product is already “half” purchased, i.e., the effort required to buy the object has been made, all that needs to be done now is nothing, and the product is obtained (even if they aren’t sure they want or need it). The subscription they are selling is an excellent product, I just wish they wouldn't have used a marketing ploy to get us to notice it! |

Are you implying that CR is doing this with the hope that people will forget & receive a low-refund ratio? I think that's an unreasonable conclusion to reach. Its not that I'm surprised to see some people unhappy with the tactic, but I wonder how many people think that they can enjoy higher quality videos (using more bandwidth, which increases server expense for CR) & feel that they are entitled to pay nothing for it? ![]() |

I'm trying this free trial right now and I think the idea is great. I can see how the videos are in very high quality. I would be more attracted to continuing this membership after the two weeks though if there were more videos since even now, I only have 2 animes that are actually making me want to watch here. I think the most enjoyable thing about crunchyroll before these changes are that there were so many videos, such as music videos, dramas, and animes that could be uploaded by users. I really understand why Shinji would want to make this a legal site for everyone, but I think it's still very hard for people to even want to buy membership here since the variety of videos are not even here; only a few are. So, I really doubt much people would pay for these memberships until A LOT more companies let their videos to be put on here.

ROFL! free trial?
i guess the credit crunch must of hit CrunchyRoll as well lol. ok i have given some thoughts about the offer: HD? buy dvd if I want HD, online stream HD is not proper HD and i don't want to be cut off from my ISP.(plus I have seen CR'S HD, its so and so~.) PASS airing same time as japan? well i watch eng subs anyways. -PASS no advertisement? well since i watch anime for free advertisement doesn't bother me.-PASS free trial? lol very funny mate.PASS Conclusion: bye bye |
