These professions include doctors, law makers, business owners and so on. If you don't have an education it just makes it harder to survive in this world.

I know that being educated gives me many more opportunities in life that someone without that same piece of paper would be neglected. Really it's service to your country and education though. When I stand up against other potential employees, an employer looks at this sequence; Education, Military Service, Job Experience, and personality. Well I will beat out the first 3 about every time. I will have a masters. I have served in the army for 4 years so far. I do what I would in the civilian world here in the Army so that means that I can handle the work load even when mortars are hitting my location lol it sounds seriously funny but truthfully an employer sees that as you can work under the most dire of situations and still perform well.
