I first started to actually watch anime just a year ago when I was 14. When I was younger maybe around 8-9 years old I watched a few episodes of DBZ, had some interest. At 14, I know anime was out there like Bleach and such and never watched any episodes. Then my friend introduced me into anime, which is Bleach. Then thats where I started watching all kinds of anime online. I wish I could thank her in person but shes deathly shy of me.

at the age of 5 or 6 when i saw anime classics such as Doraemon, Card Captor Sakura, Sailor Moon, Beyblade, Crushgear, Pokemon, Yu Yu Hakusho, Lupin the 3rd, and more, then i got a tamagochi (little device thing where u take care of a virtual pet), then on my teenage years when i moved to america, got into new anime like naruto and stuff and started listening to JPop / Jrock and stuff and eating japanese food, and now i am obssessed enough that i am learning the japanese language and planning on going to japan for college and hopefully live there

I started when I was 5 yet I was unaware of it until I was 17 or 18. It all started when I played Mario Bros. for the NES. I know every gamer has played that game once in their lifetime but it was technically the first Japanese form of entertainment I ever experienced. I was also a big fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles which was obviously not a Japanese anime, but had a lot of influences from Japanese martial arts. There many other games I played that were Japanese even though I never noticed. Later, I got a little bit into Power Rangers which was a show that "legally ripped off" scenes from a Japanese action series (sorry I forgot what the original show was called). Around the same time my sister watched Sailor Moon since she got a couple of the American versions of the dolls (the Japanese versions were probably skimpier). I pretended to not enjoy but bear with my sister watching it. I actually enjoyed it myself. I guess this might have something to do with my interest in Japanese erotica because I watched that show around the time when my puberty kicked in After that, I thought my interest in cartoons was supposed to end when I got into high school. I avoided them especially Pokemon, because there was too much hype around it. Later in my sophomore year, I got into Adult Swim since it had Family Guy and man did I love it, and I still do. My parents didn't care much for it, so I was thankful for Adult Swim that I could watch it at an hour that my parents were usually asleep. Then one night I got too lazy to get up and get the remote and on came FLCL. It was hysterical, I laughed so hard because it was a different type of humor and just the randomest show ever known to mankind. I wanted more after that. Enter Cowboy Bebop. It was a different type of show but it was gripping, dark, and entertaining. I realized that cartoons are not just for kids and noticed that there were not many cartoons for mature audiences made in the U.S. unless they had stupid tasteless humor. So I had started my great fascination for anime. Then I later met people in college who were learning how to speak Japanese and I got interested and later found a vlogger name Koichiben. He provided viewers with sources to learning Japanese including J-drama. I did lots of research on Japanese pop culture and went crazy and the rest is history.
