Selena Gomez: Spell Bound

With her upcoming made-for-TV movies Wizards of Waverly Place and Princess Protection Program, Disney darling Selena Gomez is having a magic moment.

by Lauren Waterman

One doesn't exactly expect a sixteen- year-old Disney Channel star to be a cold-eyed realist. But, according to Selena Gomez, that's exactly what she is. Sitting cross-legged on a pastel couch in the San Juan, Puerto Rico, hotel room that has served as her home for the past seven weeks—she's been shooting a made-for-TV movie based on her popular series, Wizards of Waverly Place—the actress attempts to elucidate her only semi-bubbly outlook on life. "I actually get told that I'm a very dark person," she insists. "I like to dream, but I also like to be realistic; sometimes, when something is so nice and sweet, I just crush it. I don't mean to, but I don't want to be let down."

Crazy Crimps
Crazy crimps add oomph to any look!

Tips From : Seventeen Magazine

Step 1:

Mist dry hair with a thickening spray. Crimp 2" sections, clamping the crimper as close to the roots as possible. Hold in place for a few seconds, then move down the length of hair. Crimp the whole head except for the front.
Try: Hot Tools Crimping Iron, $50,

Step 2:

To fluff out your crimped strands, tease them with a brush: Hold the ends of a 2" section straight up, then brush it toward the roots until each piece is majorly full.

Step 3:

Brush back the front section of hair, and secure at the crown with an elastic. Spritz the front with hairspray to smooth down flyaways and add shine.
Try: Pantene Pro-V Volume Hairspray, $4, drugstores
