To share our extremely creative yet sometimes slightl insane ideas with the people of the world on how our favorite animes/ tv shows/ books could have been if only we had a say in how things might have gone.....::sigh::...if only...

I think that people write fanfiction because the characters, or something, in a certain story (show, movie) are what they like. And they like the idea... but not all the way. They want to build on an already made story. They don't have to really create new characters... they just have to write about the already made characters.

Idk. I ask myself the same question. I like writing fanfiction... and people like my writing. But I always have a hard time finishing my stories.

Well I write fanfiction because when I watch an anime or read a manga sometimes ideas pop into my head that just don't leave. I write those Ideas down and they become a story. It's a hobby. I write as a freelancer for a living and fanfiction is relaxing for me and there's never any pressure to make someone else happy... I just write it. Half of the crap I write I don't even put up on LJ or whatever. I just write it for myself.

And for those of you who say it's because we have no talent... I've had a few flash fics and short stories (original works) that have won contests and have been published in small magazines. Maybe I don't have any talent, but at least there are people out there that appreciate my work.

sometimes, its a way of trying to reveal/show or express something according to the writer's fantasy~
Since it's fictional, its merely something enclosed of being imagined by the writer.
It's the mean of jotting down what drifts in an author's mind.

To unleash one's potential creativity.
It's called creative writing for a reason.
Or even perhaps to kill time?

Well, it depends on what type of fanfiction it is!

If it's about a band, maybe the writer's undying love for them and fantasies come alive in their stories. Or maybe it's the personalities of a band that the writer finds appealing and somehow circulates a story around that personality.

If it's about an anime, perhaps it's the same thing - concerning both personalities and the undying passions for their pixelated faces.

When I used to read anime fanfics, the personalites of the characters were usually not even present in the story; perhaps it's just the attractiveness of a character? Haha. I don't know!

I used to write fanfictions because I was a devoted and in-love fan of whatever I wrote about! (Example: I wrote InuYasha fics when I was obsessed with the show!)

It is because it shows about the education that you know and in who you are. It helps with many parts of English also. It is just a hobby that people may or may not enjoy doing. ^^

Crossovers always make some good storylines don't they. I myself did a few before I went to doing original fiction and just seeing the impact of two worlds of characters is always funny to work with because you can actually see it happening.

in order to share your imaginations, ideas and sometimes dreams about a particular anime series to everyone.
It's fun but time consuming yet it really gives you self satisfaction on that anime series.
