-- Chapter 1 [ My Name Is Karlie ]

I'm Karlie, 16 and a half, and my parents are always nagging me to go out in the world and get a job. Everyday they would remind me and remind me. One day; I finally decided it was for the best. It was the only way I could prove I wasn't a child anymore. My job- a part time waitress at a place called The Lunch Box. I know, a waitress. Sounds too far-fetched for me. Yet, I was strangely stoked for my first day tomorrow. And nervous at the same time. I woke up in the morning with the same thoughts as yesterday they just wouldn't be put to the side.

Karlie stepped out of her bed and gave a tiring morning yawn and stretch. "Today is the day..." Her voice was cranky in the mornings. The sun still not even rising yet, it was way too early in the morning. Though there was a little light reflecting into my room.

She took no time to procrastinate- while needing to do her usual morning routines. Brush teeth, wash face, put on her new clothes she just bought yesterday for her first day of work. She headed for the restroom, clearing her mind would be a challenge this morning. She stopped halfway and stood just feet from the restroom, she glanced up at the hallway clock, '5 in the morning.' Work is in 30 minutes... In the hallway, magazines that were outdated layed on a table, the carpet was threadbare, and a large glass jar with a slit in the lid sat on the counter.

Karlie itched her neck and stepped into her restroom, breathtakingly clean and spotless as always. Her mom was a clean freak. And her father would have been better married to his tool kit. Seriously. He's in love with his tools. The large mirror that hung on the bathroom wall was without stains, completely perfect though the reflection wasn't as pretty. Karlie sighed. Her tone was half solicitous. "I wish I was prettier." She pouted in front of the mirror. Karlie's gaze crossed over to a pretty designed flower cabinet. In it was her toothbrush and some floss. Also mouthwash. She sighed, she had no time to both floss AND mouthwash. The person in the mirror could never captivate her... she was ugly. She didn't deserve such a pampered life. Her facial features weren't as pretty as the other girls. Her hair wasn't straight nor curly. It was nothing special.

She reached for her toothbrush and began brushing her teeth. She had a little OCD. She had to brush in between her teeth, all around. No tooth would go un-brushed. She even brushed her gum's and tongue. She wanted to prevent gingivitis and cavities and much more. She did things almost too perfectly. Once she was finally done brushing she put the cap back on her toothpaste and spit in her sink. Turning the handle to cold and leaning closer for the water to fill up her mouth so she could gargle. She spit lastly and turned the water off. Placing her toothpaste back in the cabinet. Her mouth felt refreshed. She turned on the water again to cold and cupped her hands together as she splashed some water on her face.

She went back into her bedroom to make her bed. She tugged onto the sheets and pulled them up nice and tidy. Again, OCD. She displaced a grin later on. She slipped into her new clothes and brushed her hair as she remembered, with no hair brush but actually running her fingers threw her hair. It was a good idea to get to work a little early on your first day. She put on her sneakers and stumbled a bit heading for the door, once she opened the door outside the warm breeze blew through the early spring air. She took a pause to inhale the spring air. Ahh. Then ran like road runner to her newly found job at The Lunch Box. It was about 3 blocks away from her home. So it wasn't that far, she could just jog there. Her eyes stayed concentrated into the distance wherein she had seen The Lunch Box's sign across. It was huge and stood out. It also had a nice picture of a lunch box, and on it was written in fancy letters I've never seen before; The Lunch Box

[I wrote all of this last night on two pieces of paper, FRONT and BACK, owo, Chapter 2 written tonight! Stay here! :3]

-- Chapter 2 [ My Co-worker Rocsas ]

Karlie checked her wrist watch quickly as she ran, '5:15' early enough I suppose. She would soon arrive to her destination. She had no idea what she had coming to her. All she knew was that her parents used to take her out to eat there when she was about 6 or 7 years old. Her parents were thoughtful and spoiled her, she could choose anything from the kiddie menu. Which consisted of anything like, cake and other goodies. Though her memories of The Lunch Box are still a bit vague, she couldn't remember how it looked like on the inside, but on the outside it drenched up old memories. She smiled, drained and panting. Unable to catch her breath as she stood outside of the Lunch Box front doors.

How she does the first day solely rests on her shoulders. She took in more of the spring air around her and rushed inside with a happy grin. "I'm here!" She skipped looking around for the manager or someone who would expect her to be here. She let out a startled gasp as someone from behind had prodded her shoulder, "Sorry if I scared you! But the manager is waiting in the back, outside." She pointed over my shoulder, I winced, "Outside?" The friendly female shrugged, "Dunno. He likes directing his business outside. More refreshing, you know?" I giggled somewhat cheerful on the first day, I surprised myself. "Thank you!" I bowed my head and skipped to where the female had directed the manager would be, the spring air caressed my skin and made it all the better to be here. "Hello?" I peeked my head to the side and jerked my body forward, The manager sat their at an outdoor table with 4 chairs around it. Everything was so fancy around here. I smiled pleasingly as I pulled up a chair and took a seat. "Glad you could make it early, Karlie. There's a few things you should know before you start." The friendly looking manager rested his elbows onto the table and leaned forward, "Your not actually going to start doing anything today." His voice rebuked me for a while before I could even say something back. "I'm...not?" My voice didn't sound so curious as it should of been, it sounded relieved. Why?

He leaned back and relaxed, "One of the co-workers here will just show you around the ropes today," But before I could say anything he continued, "It's like this with every new employee, Karlie." I nodded in understanding, then blinked curiously around us, Would it be...that lady that I met not too long ago...? "So who will be showing me around the ropes as you say?" He answered rather automatically, "Rocsas. He's a kind man. He may come off as someone who pry's a lot, but he's a decent human being."

The manager pulled his chair back and stood back up on his feet, I followed obediently. The managers stare crossed over into the restaurant, waving at who may be, this Rocsas person. "Come here, boy! There's someone I'd like you to meet!" His voice was boosted with life, and his voice returned to normal again, "Karlie, I do hope you enjoy yourself here." He smiled and reverted his attention to the man who was making his way over here. I heard his footsteps becoming closer and closer just behind me. I looked back with just the corner of my eye, then I didn't need to, he was standing right beside me friendlier then I imagined. The tall man standing by me held out a hand, I gazed at it not sure what to do. Then took it with a weak smile and chuckle. We shook hands for moments, when he introduced himself and introduced myself back. "...Nice to meet you..."

His alluring eyes stayed on mine, and he looked back down to our still shaking hands and blushed sort of, I laughed and stood there trying to composure my laugh. Out of habit I folded my arms across my chest tightly, "Well! You two get to know each other, and Rocsas, don't pry son. Show her around." He left us managing a quick smile. I saw it briefly and wondered what he meant by all of that, Rocsas seemed preoccupied with himself. The conversation started lightly.

"So, your Karlie?" He walked ahead, and I guessed I should follow, we walked beside each other and he pointed out things of interest or that would become a good conversation starter, "Yeah...that's me." He pointed every few seconds at something new, I already knew what they were...but I didn't want to say anything. I cleared my throat as we arrived into the restaurant quicker than I had thought, "So how long have you...worked here?" I asked, trying to compose my face to a more serous one he could relate to. "Hm, not long. A month or two." He chucked and I stopped following him near a table, he turned and said, "Come on, don't tell me you don't want me as your guide anymore?" He showed a small frown, but laughed nonetheless. I shook my head slowly and began walking with him.

A couple minutes passed and I hadn't known what to expect from him, with each tick of the second hand I became more and more unamused with the way he handled everything. I became skeptical. "Have you really worked here for a month or two?" I prodded as his face became shocked, he took a seat and pulled up a chair from an empty table accompanying no one, he sighed. "You don't like you?" He looked hurt. Chatters and murmurs were flowing around the restaurant, though I only listened to his voice.

I winced and gave him a surprised look, "What...? I don't...know you." Why would he asked me such a thing? He gazed into my eyes and mind for a moment, occasionally I looked away. "Well then, lets get to know each other then, Karlie." I bit my lip down, "The manager was right, you do pry."

[Finish owo. BTW ; This chapter was not written on paper, so I had to think fast ya know :3 Chapter 3 is coming tomorrow! ^^]

-- Chapter 3 [ "Have you ever been in love?" ]

I didn't expect my first day to go like this, I didn't serve anything to any customers, I hardly made my presence known. Rocsas seemed over-exited to talk about his past with me, a stranger. I on the other hand didn't care to mention the small details in my past life. He was supposed to show me around...not to share his past with a stranger like me... I was surprised by the direction our conversation had went, he was...talking about past lovers. I tried to at least look interested. "I'm sorry, but I just didn't expect my first day to go like this..." I interrupted him in the middle of one of his stories, He rolled his eyes, and his tone of voice laced with uncertainty, "I'm sorry...You can go ahead now and babble about past lovers." He humored resting one of his arms onto the table he was seated at. I still stood where I was. Un-moving. "Just drop it." I looked away embarrassed.

"...Sorry. I'm prying again! Here I am talking about my life..." I hissed immediately, "That's not it at all!" I hadn't realized how hard my voice had become. "Your...very serious about this job. Aren't you?" I pressed my lips together and refused to talk. "Hm...Has Karlie ever been in love?" Somehow he knew that would get me talking again, it's almost as if he had just broken threw a barrier that hasn't been broken down by anyone in quite some time...until now...

I paused to actually think about that for a moment or two, have I really been in love before...? It wasn't with the right person though...I choked on my words, and choice them carefully as I spoke again, "At some point in my life, I gave up on loving anyone else other then my family members..." That just came out sad... I didn't expect him to understand me at all, I haven't been the luckiest girl in the love department.

"I understand." I flinched and I hope he didn't notice my surprise, I studied his face, he looked down to his hand and spoke with a whisper, "I understand. How it feels to love someone who doesn't even love you back. . . you just. . . you can't be their friend, you don't want half of them, you want to love every part of them. . ." I looked at him wide eyed for the first time, and a little mystified. He's...deep... The intensity and dept in his words...made some bottled up emotions spring inside of me. My face flickered with life, "...You've...experienced love, Rocsas?" That was the first time I ever used his name in conversation. And that surprised me a great deal. "You could say that, I'm still waiting for my Cinderella."

My muscles locked into place, and froze me where I stood. I felt compelled to tell him about my life now, "I...moved to this town when I was just 5 years old, my parents thought it would be a nice change, and it was. I met a lot of friendly people, and made best friends with someone-" He interrupted as my face glowed with the memories, "Nice to know your sharing, Karlie." He smiled, exposing some teeth. I mimicked that smile. My legs moved forward on their own will, seating with him at the table, I think we just made some progress here in our relationship.

[OK OMG -3- Chapter 4 is REALLY long, 4 pages, FRONT&BACK O_O; Might take some time to type it all up. :3]

-- Chapter 4 [ My New friend, Tara ]

Time flies by even when you don't realize it, even when you don't look up at the clock. It won't stop, for anyone. Once I came back home from my first day of work...I wouldn't really call it that though, it was more like a get-to-know everything kind of first day. Tomorrow I actually get to do something productive, other than converting in deep conversations with had started at 5:30, threw 12:00pm. 7 hours and 30 minutes of Rocsas, "showing me around the ropes", how cliche. I didn't bother to think about more than I had to. What's there to think about anyway? Work? I snorted, Rocsas? I denied and pushed that thought out of my mind, He's still waiting for his Cinderella huh... I scoffed at myself and heaved a heavy sigh.

I stepped into my restroom and glided into the squeaky clean shower. I shuddered for a brief moment, it was a bit chilly in there. I leaned toward the shower head and turned it on carefully walking in trying not to slip and fall on my face. The hot water soothed my muscles, and mind. I grabbed my soap with my free hand that wasn't combing threw my un-perfect hair, the circular soap instantly dropped out of my grasp, "Oh shoot." She murmured and reached for the shampoo bottle. 'Water Melon Cherry' was labeled on the bottle.

After the shower I headed down stairs for dinner, which consisted of eggs and bacon, (I could smell it) I could have any beverage I wanted, except soda. I hate soda. It rots your teeth. And I have a problem with unclean teeth. I mumbled on my way to the kitchen that looked a little over-done. Mom loves her kitchen. She's in there 24/7. Whenever you needed her, she'll be there. Dad on the other hand just minded his PRECIOUS tools, and stayed cooped up in our garage.

I looked at my food that my mom just set on the table, I felt my mouth water. "Hunny! How was it? Tell me all about it!" Mom asked enthusiastically with curious wide eyes, I looked down at the plate of food and glanced at Dad, picking up a fork and stuffing himself with salad. I shook my head and my eyes flashed up to mom, " wasn't what I expected." I told, the smell of the bacon flowing threw my nostrils. I wanted to eat, now. Without mom bombarding me with her questions. "What do you mean?" She looked confused, she wouldn't let this go, after all, she nagged me the most about getting this job. "The manager wanted me to get 'familiarized' with the place, so that's it." I answered without much of a happy tone, mom looked convinced and with small smile we continued dinner in peace, said a few prayers and thanks.

Everyone one of us was silent, but the silence broke all too soon before I even got started on my eggs, "Mom?" I blinked up and looked at her with a worried expression this time. Her pager had gone off on the kitchen counter. "Is it work again?" I sighed, she nodded and smiled sadly. I dropped my kitchen utensil and it made a noise. Mom examined her pager and strolled to the table grabbing her plates and dumping them in the sink, without pausing to wash them. "Sorry, but could you was dishes tonight?" I nodded half heartedly. She kissed me on the cheek and stormed out of the house. Leaving behind a loud slam from the door that raged in my ears, I looked up at dad who just stared at his food skeptically, " how's that garage your always in? Decent shape?" I asked not caring for an answer.

After that lonesome dinner without mom I headed off to bed. Early, very early for me. I kept in mind I had a job no more staying up late. Mom got called in for work...again, so I suppose she'll be a while, she'll come home late. I'm not going to bother staying up late for her till she comes back, I tried to sleep, with my eyes still wide open and awake, wondering why my dad and I could never distinguish a decent conversation together.

When I opened my eyes from finally dozing off last night, It was morning. I yawned a long yawn today, rubbing my eyes tiredly like I always did. It was so unusual to wake up in the morning and the sun isn't even out yet, why should I wake up when the sun hasn't even woken up? I would need to get used to it, that's all. I really needed one of those Certa Mattresses they always show on commercials, they looked comfy. Quickening the morning routine was a piece of pie cake! I was unusually ecstatic today. Wonder why. I made sure everything looked right, I looked right, maybe instead of wearing my Capri's- I might be caught with my PJ'S! I laughed, and opened the front door to the wide, cruel world. Inhaling it's oxygen. I paced myself accordingly to my job. That sounds nice. I didn't need to run like road runner like before, no use arriving to work breathless. Right? I would be useless, a bright and cheerful smile stood at the front entrance, as soon as I arrived inside the Lunch Box. Her aura was all but overwhelming.

It was the girl from yesterday..."I didn't get a chance to introduce myself yesterday! I'm Tara." Her smile was reassuring and bubbly, and she was prettier than me, that much for certain. She was beautiful. We shook hands and I introduced myself back, glad to make a friend here, other then the manager, or...Rocsas... "Karlie! You can call me Karlie." Oh, the irony! Shaking hands so formerly, shaking hands are for strangers, and hugs are for friends. But something about her face, like I've seen someone like it...his image appeared in my brain just then. Rocsas...? Could they be related...? She noticed my scrutiny, she looked a bit self-conscious what with me staring at her like that. "Oh- I probably should let you know, know Rocsas right?" She asked, my face softened at the question, Maybe they are siblings...just a theory. "You know him?!" I tried to make my voice sound appalled, and real shocked. Like I had no idea at all. Yeah right.

She grimaced and giggled, I tried to understand. "Yes I know him! He's my brother after all!" She seemed proud to admit that, wow. "YOUR BROTHER!?" I winched, totally not surprised by this. "S-sorry about that!" I joked, I don't think my loudness was necessary at work. I rubbed the back of my head in shame. "Haha, yeah it's okay. He is...sort of strange I'll admit." Tara seemed easy to get along with, I was glad we both met. And we were friends already. We both caught a glimpse of a busy looking Rocsas, scrubbing the tables. "But seriously, he's a good brother. Annoying, but good. He's also a hard worker." She smiled and her face glowed, He is isn't he? My lips curled into a smile, and I tried to look away from Rocsas, at least NOT look like I was interested in him, no! I couldn't be. Could I?

[DONE! O_O Omg...finally! OWO I ish so happy now~ Next chapter tomorrow.]

-- Chapter 5 [ First Tears ]

It was early still, too early for work. I had about 10 minutes until the Lunch Box actually opened. I spent that time chatting it up with Tara at an un-occupied table. Still a bit wet from Rocsas scrubbing tables before customers arrived. I nested my hands on my lap. "So do you think I have to wear that apron too?" I noticed she wore one, pitch black, plain and casual for this kind of job. She nodded, "Yup, all new employee's should, well when you actually start working." She said with a grin, "Hey ROCSAS!! Get Karlie an apron from the supply room! Um- A medium is fine right Karlie?" I nodded weakly, half looking at Rocsas.

Rocsas walked up to our table and handed me the apron, my eye brows furrowed questionably, "Uh...this is an 'XL'!" I pulled on the tag that printed, 'XL' on it, Tara found that rather humorous. "I believe I said a MEDIUM." She still continued with her laugh. Rocsas looked different than the other day, almost...distant. In an alternative universe. I wonder if Tara would notice. He shrugged coldly and walked off looking for a Medium. My eyes strayed over his way, sometimes back to Tara. And then him again. He wasn't talking, OR prying. I wonder what's up..."Hey, Karlie? What's wrong?" I looked up frantically, did I really look bothered by it...? I shrugged and smiled, "Nothing..." I couldn't convince myself, Tara, or Rocsas. When I had received the right size from Rocsas both our hands almost touched as I grabbed it, I pulled away quickly and pulled my hair up to a poiny-tail, and slipped into the apron gracefully.

Tara gave a reassuring thumps up and smiled as she exposed some perfect white teeth. I grimaced and quickly turned my head to the side to see a retreating Rocsas. Tara followed my gaze on Rocsas, "I know that look," She teased with her eyes dropping in spite of herself, I turned back to face her, "Huh?" I blinked and made a face, What is she thinking... The clock showed 5:31 am. Time to work. I tried to look ready for whatever were to happen. The customers...came in fierce crowds...whoa, my mind spinned, the whole room looked disorientated with overlapping chatter. "HOLD ON, HOLD ON! I'll get to each and every one of you!" I tripped on my shoe-laced trying to make my way to a clipboard that attached a piece of blank paper, I picked it up and wrote down as many orders as I heard. All at once. I was in a rush, so I had sloppy hand-writing.

"Karlie! It's alright, just make sure to get the RIGHT orders from everyone! I'll handle the rest." Desperation edged into my voice, "T-thanks so much! I owe you one!" She was really a good friend. Concern striked Rocsas on the face, Perhaps she isn't cut out for all of this... But I didn't notice, I was too busy. She needed discipline, she's too spoiled.

Karlie rushed her feet to Tara and delivered the orders to her, disorientated and klutzy of course. She would cook the food, and the other cook employees would help. Rocsas tried hard to conceal his tension, then, "Karlie, come over here for a second." I locked gazed with him for an instant, then he turned his back and headed for a spare room. The first thing I noticed when I walked into the room and shut the door behind me, was a bright yellow sign that stayed on the floor, reading, 'CAUTION: WET FLOOR' I walked slowly one on one with Rocsas, "You...wanted to speak with me about something? But, why here...?" I asked, moving a strand of hair from blocking my eyes, despite the fact it was spare room un-used, the lights were bright and gleamed all around the room, "More privacy in here." I shrugged, "Uh- sure." I hadn't anticipated what would happen next. "How are you enjoying the pressure?" He looked down on me with intimidating eyes, my head reaching up to his chin, barely. I looked up to him still not understanding what was happening between us, "What do you mean by, pressure?"

I scrunched my eyes to his level, he was tall. I listened for an answer, "This job doesn't have many perks, you know. You have to be disciplined, and...have experience with crowds such as those, he went on with his in-polite tone, and I don't think...know you don't seem able to handle the pressure."

That kind of stung. Was he just waiting and bottling this up inside until now?...

"Give me a break! This is my first job!" The air in the room started tensing, I found it was hard to breath and swallow, I shook my head laughing it off instead, "Oh...I see asked me here because you didn't want to embarrass me out there in front of everyone..." Does he have a single ounce of compassion!? I couldn't muster enough strength to keep the moisture from forming in my eyes, "You crossed the line saying...I'm not qualified for all of this!" I looked down to the floor, it was so clean I could see my saddened expression, "I never said that," I tried ignoring the resentment in his voice, and stormed out of the room. Almost slipping. I saw how busy it was still in the restaurant, clear drops sparkling in my hands then I realized I was crying. . .

[T_T Next Chapter Tomorrow*]

-- Chapter 6 [ The Note ]

Maybe that wasn't the best way to approach things...what I had meant to say was that she had potential... little. But she had it. And after bursted out the door, I could have swore, I seen her cry...

I wiped away my tears before anyone could notice, I didn't want Tara to see especially. "Karlie? What are you doing over there?" She asked a couple of yards away, busy with a table of hungry customers. She glided her feet coming toward me, a little panic in her voice, "Were you...crying?" I shook my head hastily side to side, "N-no! I'm fine!" My voice thickened, and it didn't seem as honest as I'd liked it to be. Tara shrugged and frowned, "...Okay..." I looked past her and saw all the customers Tara already served, they all looked so happy. It felt like everything was as it should be, everything was right again. "I'll try my best from now on too, Tara." I said in the heat of the moment, confident in myself all of a sudden. She looked at me brightly, "Hm? Of course, of course!" Tara always seemed like a generally happy person, I liked that. "Alrighty then!" I laughed, happiness saturating my voice.

I realized my role here, just jot down orders, and serve them to Tara. Wasn't as hard as I imagined. My face lit up for a long time, I was happy. I've forgotten about negative-Rocsas. I shut my eyes and hummed a tune, a tune my mother used to sing to me when I was just a little girl, it would always put me to sleep. And I would dream about the happiest things. I never SANG in public, just hummed. If I sang- it would be too embarrassing for me...I usually just sing in the shower. That's pretty much it. I was scrubbing a table with a wet cloth, after the customers accompanying it left with stomachs full I hoped. A certain rush past me, like...someone, or a ghost just walked passed me. I spun around to see the remaining people close to me, and there was no one really there. What was that? "Hmph." She returned back to her scrubbing, a note caught her eyes, it got a little wet on the edges- the table was still not dry. The note was folded and I picked it up and unfolded it making haste, and bringing it up close to my face.

A smile beginning to pull up the corners of my mouth, But I frowned, actually as I read it, 'Sorry. How 'bout a date?'
"Ugh...Idiot." This is so second-grade...passing notes. I folded the note back up how I'd seen it and threw it in the trash nearby. The nerve of him...seriously. It was almost 12 o'clock, almost closing time.

I headed for the stain-glass door just behind the restaurant to catch my breath- but found myself pressed up head first, against someones back. I just had to bump into them without even keeping my brain functioning right, Urgh...all HIS fault... "S-sorry about that!" He held the door just half way open, as if holding it for me. I blinked and guess who it was, Rocsas. . .

He turned and disgust formed my used to be happy eyes, "It's alright~ And how bout that date." He didn't even seem to care, and that didn't even seem like a question...I looked off, anywhere but him. "Never mind. I take it back, I'm not sorry. And my answer is no." I shrugged and gave him the cold shoulder, thinking of him nothing more then Tara's brother. His face looked warmed up like nothing even happened, He made me cry! "Who are you trying to fool...? Me or you?" His gave off those seductive eyes, I felt them locked to mine, but I looked away nonetheless, and continued to look away. But nothing caught my attention but his gaze. I thought about doing the un-thinkable, something, Karlie would NOT do. I took my hand up and gently pressed it onto his shoulder, he looked at my hand. "Don't flatter yourself, I will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER think of you more than just Tara's brother." I wished he wouldn't get the wrong impression of all this, knowing him. I knew he would.

He still permitted to gaze at my hand, suddenly taking his and setting it on mine, a second later, sliding his fingers threw mine. My cheeks started to warm, turn a rosy color. "Sure, sure." He said, not believing me one bit with that tone. In a moment, Tara had popped from no where and stood next to my side, I screamed. My hand pulled away and still warm to his touch. I growled. I couldn't he believe he did heart wouldn't settle down though, I wondered why. Because of Tara popping up out of no where? Or. . .

Tara smirked and her eyes became giddy, "Hehe! I knew something was going on here~" I gave the most bewildered look I could give, so shocked I couldn't let my eyes drop for a second. "HE STARTED ITTTT!! AAH!" I shouted in my defense and clamped my hands over my ears, refusing to listen to Tara tease me. Heheheh...I saw everything, she only pulled away 'cus I came. Tara whispered to herself. Still giddy on the outside. "I THOUGHT YOU WERE ON MY SIDEEE!" I pouted and brought my face to hers, frowning like a child. "I'm not on anyone's side! Hehe!" She gave us both an alluring smile and said, "You two were just the people I wanted to see, how about...we go see a movie tonight! To celebrate a job well done!!" Her voice turned cheerful again, and I was glad the subject was changed. Wait...does that include Rocsas too...? "Er...sure! But is he going too?" I asked, secretly gritting my teeth at the thought of Rocsas joining along too. "OF COURSE!" She announced and skipped off into the kitchen, leaving me all alone again. I think she wanted this. Don't leave me TARA!!... Rocsas chucked and his face moved inches closer to mine, I hissed. "I guess you have no other choice then, see you tonight. It's a date!" . . .GAAHH!!. . . if he even tries something like this at the movies, what the hell would he do next?!?! KISS ME!?

[Next Chapter Is A Side Story ~CINDERELLA~ Hmm... Wonder why ;D]

-- Chapter 7 [ The Cinderella Story ] (SIDE STORY!)

Once upon a time there lived an unhappy young girl. Her mother was dead and her father had married a widow with two daughters. Her stepmother didn't like her one little bit. Or step sisters. All her kind thoughts and loving touches were for her own daughters. Nothing was too good for them - dresses, shoes, delicious food, soft beds, and every home comfort. But, for the poor unhappy girl, there was nothing at all. No dresses, only her stepsisters’ hand-me-downs. No lovely dishes, nothing but scraps. No rest and no comfort. She had to work hard all day. Only when evening came was she allowed to sit for a while by the fire, near the cinders. That’s why everybody called her Cinderella.

Karlie flipped onto the next page,

Cinderella used to spend long hours all alone talking to the cat. The cat said, Miaow. Which really meant, 'Cheer up! You have something neither of your stepsisters has and that is beauty.' It was quite true. Cinderella, even dressed in old rags, was a lovely girl. While her stepsisters, no matter how splendid and elegant their clothes, were still clumsy, lumpy and ugly and always would be.

She flipped again, thinking.

One day, beautiful new dresses arrived at the house. A ball was to be held at the palace and the stepsisters were getting ready to go. Cinderella didn't even dare ask if she could go too. She knew very well what the answer would be: 'You? You're staying at home to wash the dishes, scrub the floors and turn down the beds for your stepsisters.' They will come home tired and very sleepy. Cinderella sighed, 'Oh dear, I'm so unhappy! And the cat murmured, Miaow.

Karlie sighed and flipped again, thinking of how her life would be if she were Cinderella.

Suddenly something amazing happened. As Cinderella was sitting all alone, there was a burst of light and a fairy appeared. . . 'Don't be alarmed, Cinderella.' Said the fairy. 'I know you would love to go to the ball. And so you shall!' Said the fairy. 'How can I, dressed in rags?' Cinderella replied. 'The servants will turn me away!'

Karlie flipped another page, getting engrossed into the story all too soon.

The fairy smiled. With a flick of her magic wand Cinderella found herself wearing the most beautiful dress she had ever seen. 'Now for your coach.' Said the fairy; 'A real lady would never go to a ball on foot! Quick! Get me a pumpkin!'

Karlie flipped again,

'Oh of course', said Cinderella, rushing away. Then the fairy turned to the cat... 'You, bring me seven mice, and, remember they must be alive!'

Cinderella soon returned with the pumpkin and the cat with seven mice he had caught in the cellar. With a flick of the magic wand the pumpkin turned into a sparkling coach and the mice became six white horses, while the seventh mouse turned into a coachman in a smart uniform and carrying a whip. Cinderella could hardly believe her eyes.

And again,

Cinderella had a wonderful time at the ball until she heard the first stroke of midnight! She remembered what the fairy had said, and without a word of goodbye she slipped from the Prince's arms and ran down the steps. As she ran she lost one of her slippers, but not for a moment did she dream of stopping to pick it up! If the last stroke of midnight were to sound...oh...what a disaster that would be! Out she fled and vanished into the night.

Now Karlie thought of someone,

The Prince, who was now madly in love with her, picked up the slipper and said to his ministers, 'Go and search everywhere for the girl whose foot this slipper fits. I will never be content until I find her!'

Karlie sighed, "He really loves Cinderella..."

So the ministers tried the slipper on the foot of every girl in the land until only Cinderella was left.

'That awful untidy girl simply cannot have been at the ball!' Snapped the stepmother. 'Tell the Prince he ought to marry one of my two daughters! Can't you see how ugly Cinderella is?' But, to everyone's amazement, the shoe fitted perfectly.

Suddenly the fairy appeared and waved her magic wand. In a flash, Cinderella appeared in a splendid dress, shining with youth and beauty. Her stepmother and stepsisters gaped at her in amazement, and the ministers said, 'Come with us Cinderella! The Prince is waiting for you.' So Cinderella married the Prince and lived happily ever. As for the cat, he just said 'Miaow!'

Karlie smiled and let herself fall on her bed, with the book on her chest, "I don't know why I still keep this old thing..." Killing time reading Cinderella was surely time consuming.
