Played the first one, and loved it. I still have yet to buy Diabolical Box and play it, though it's been on my list for ages.

The Layton series is quite possibly my favorite original series of the past several years.

I love Professor Layton! =u= Ah, good times of tapping the screen for ten minutes straight, looking for Hint Coins...

Man, I loved Curious Village, Diabolical Box, and Unwound Future. Those were such good games, I still have yet to play Last Specter (I'm not sure if I got that title right...).

Haha, Luke is so adorable. Gaah, I just want to give him a big hug! >u<

I want to play BAAAAASEBALL

If you get that joke, you win.

Also, I really like the series, I got it originally because it was 4.99 each at Toys R Us. No regrets.

These games are great! unfortunetly for some reason because they aren't the type of game I usually play I don't buy them right away and therefore don't I'm fairly far behing

The two I do own, the Curious Village, and Diabolical Box are amazing, the puzzles are great but are not so easy that you can just solve them, not to mention the story is great

But yeah I have yet to play the Unwound Future, Last Spector, and not to mention Miricale Mask was just released on the 3DS

But yeah the Proffesor Layton series is probably one of the best puzzle game series one the DS (and now 3DS) and in general even

I got Miracle Mask as a Christmas gift and have just gotten around to playing it recently.. but I love it just as much as the others in the series. My personal favorite (so far) has been Diabolical Box for it's story and general flow. I generally wouldn't qualify myself as a puzzle-game-player, but the Layton series is different in some ways. In many cases, the puzzles are more like riddles. And when they are puzzles, they vary so greatly between one and the next that your brain has to adjust accordingly. It doesn't have the same mind-numbingly repetitive monotony that a lot of others puzzle games do (at least in my opinion).

The one criticism I do have for the Layton titles is that, as great as the dialogue is, it's hard to quickly skim past it. Sometimes I don't care to hear what random citizens have to say and just want to see if they have a puzzle to offer me, but get stuck reading 30 seconds worth of text. It slows down the pace of the game, searching for spare puzzles and hint coins. But I don't really have a fix for that. It would be pretty boring if the game just handed them over. I guess in their defense, you can play through the game all the same and ignore all the side stuff, if you so choose.

tldr; (sorry, I ramble a lot), the Professor Layton series is great, regardless of whether you're usually a 'puzzle person' or not.

ps. Playing it makes me feel like more of a gentleman.
