A Japanese Self-Defense Forces emergency medical team that has been providing care to survivors of the devastating quake in Haiti since Jan 23 will end its operations on Saturday, Defense Minister Toshimi Kitazawa said Friday.

The team, consisting of about 100 members, which has so far extended support to 2,675 victims of the Jan. 12 quake in Leogane, some 40 kilometers west of the capital Port-au-Prince, is scheduled to arrive back home next Thursday, according to the Defense Ministry.
