I think it would be great if you guys put together some type of API that would allow developers to make plugins for other systems that stream videos based on login, similar to streaming Netflix.

I've been wanting to use CR on my HTPC inside of Media Center without having to load up a browser, similar to the Netflix plugin for WMC.

I'd be glad to take a stab at making the plugin if you guys had an API that would allow something like this to work, too.

Hey, any luck on getting a response to this? I've been thinking of the same thing - a plugin for Media Center. Somebody got a negative reply on a separate thread. The reasoning was that his proposed method (he wanted to display this in XBMC) would require decryption of the subtitles, which is CrunchyRoll's bread and butter.

My idea is to use the web APIs to pull down the library, build a UI for the site in MCML, but keep the existing Flash player. It shouldn't be a big deal - the only problem is that it won't be remotable to a 360.

If we don't get any feedback, we can just grab an existing device, attach netmon, and see what the web service API is. I am guessing it is something pretty simple and standardized. However, if it is using a certificate for authentication, then it will be annoying. Although even then we can just steal Boxee's cert or something. :-)

All I know is that there are no current plans for this. We're busy with other projects and something like this would probably require a bit of work to make sure it's secure.

It does sound like an interesting idea though so it may be done in the future.
