How about no?

It's not a movie, but I think an Asian remake of the television series 'Miami Vice' would be pretty cool, except I have no idea what they would rename it!

None, I'd be happier to see some original stuff, movies are having a tougher time pleasing me than ever atm -__-

I know right? Everything's either a remake, sequel, book, t.v.series, videogame, comicbook or flippin' kid's toy. Did you know they are actually making a movie based on rock 'em sock 'em robots?! WTF?!

I don't see anything wrong with making a movie based on a book-- there have been a TON of great movies that started off as books-- i'd say it's much better like that b/c you at least then know it's good material and should make for a decent movie so long as the director isn't an a-hole

and the same with comic book adaptations--

TV series? I haven't seen any TV series made into movies--
EDIT: okay, Mission Impossible and The A-Team, but the latter was definitely a very enjoyable movie and I pity you if you didn't enjoy it

Sequels? Well, that was an incredibly successful movie, and there's a bunch more story that we haven't revealed yet which should also make for an equally as interesting movie, so... been nice knowing you guys, I would ask you to stay on and help me make a movie about related events but-- HA -- who's ever heard of doing that?

Videogames are the only thing on your list which I can agree with, b/c they're quite impossible to successfully adapt for the silver screen--

So...just what does it matter if it came from a book or comic-- disrespecting my favorite movies when you say that

I didn't say I didn't enjoy them, I'm just sad that there just aren't as many decent original stories made by movie writers anymore. For instance I fully enjoy many, many comic-book related films (of course to the point that I can call them 'films' and not 'movies') and yes, there are many series that benefit from being just that--a series--and for the most part these days the only way to get kids to read books anymore is if a movie shows them exactly what they're missing. However it seems to be monopolizing the industry and it makes me kind of melancholy as someone who enjoys films so much. I dunno, I'm just feeling that the pie isn't evenly cut to include originality anymore.

So I guess if I haven't articulated my point quite accurately, I suppose a good analogy would be if a fantastic artist only ever used their talent to recreate previous masterpieces, or to create fan art or homages. No one can argue that they aren't still a magnificent artist, but it'd be nice if they made something unique to them more often, so we could see their true colours and potential.

Anyway, sorry If I insulted anyone with my previous remark. I'm still cheezed about the robot thing though...I will not take that back, even if it turns out to be great. >:3

EDIT: Who didn't love A-Team?

Well I actually think Hollywood has sorta been doing the whole book to movie thing for a while, maybe a little bit more than it used to but there are still a good amount of originals

Inception was definitely a heavy hitter for originals (although one could argue Christopher Nolan may have had some inspiration from "The Cell" -- J.Lo, yes, J.Lo -- that's just something I noticed but I wouldn't discredit him) b/c it came out a year before he wrote the draft for Inception

The Fighter, Black Swan, 127 Hours, and The Social Network are a few others that did pretty good while being original

I can understand your concern over the dwindling creation of fresh material though--

I'm not Chinese but...isn't Zhang Ziyi a Chinese actress and that is a Chinese name??

Her and Tang Wei are B-U-T-FULL
