Hey guys,
It's another year of Anime Saimoe Tournament 2011. Last year winner was Azusa (K-ON!!) made for many an exciting conclusion in 2010. So I’m hoping this year’s tourney will be as thrilling if not more. I know I’ll definitely have to campaign even harder for my top choices this year. Especially when seeing just how fierce the competition will be this time around.

Best of luck to each and every one of our 2011 nominees.

P.S. I do not own this. I'm just one of the supporters who wants to spread this around and hoping to make a wider audience. By using crunchyroll to help make this year one of the best tournament ever! As for who I’m supporting is Misaki Ayuzawa (Kaicou Wa Maid-Sama!).

This is [obviously] not the official site (, and is in almost no way responsible for the running of the tournament. The official Saimoe 2011 site is (, but is in Japanese only.

This site ( aims to provide close to comprehensive coverage of the tournament for the English audience, and eventually act as a storehouse for all of the tournaments from its birth in 2002. For now, please forgive the fact that the backdating is still a work in progress, with rampant broken links and pictures in the older years.

With the preliminary stages over, Saimoe 2011 is now officially in action, and everything is gearing up for another festival of love, moe, complex political machinations and a heap of butthurt. This year sees the return of the classic 288-way bloodbath of the 2005-2008 era, with early indications of fierce battle to come fuelled by a potential lack of massive factional domination. With the die now cast, which characters will come out of the starting block hardest, and which factions will pull some early moves?

If by 3/5 you mean 3 of the 5 girls from the show "Puealla Magi Madoka Magica" made it into the semi-finals, then yeah that pretty much sums up this years tournament. Some peeps, especially those who were not fans of the show, were not too happy about the fact that 3 of the 4 girls in the last 2 rounds were all Puealla Magi.

I find it amusing that with a show about magical girls fighting witches, all the magical girls left at the semi's were facing off against a lone witch (Erica Hartman from "Strike Witches" was the only non-Puealla Magi left out of the 4 finalists).

Anyways, yeah congrats to Mami for winning it all this year.
