Thieves lurk at a high society party hosted by a jeweller. Their target is an alexandrite ring called “Alexander’s tear” and said to be the the best jewel among jewels. Kamimura Rei has been recruited by Nishizaki, the butler of a mysterious woman called Kitaba Yoko, to steal the ring. Katagiri Karen and Kishihara Taiga have each been recruited for the same purpose too, and they plot to get close to the target.
Rei, who prefers to play the lone wolf, had accepted the job because Nishizaki had hinted at knowing something about lost memory. Neither Rei, Karen, Taiga nor another thief are aware of each other. And so, this leads to an all out demonstration of their ability to cheat and steal what has been stolen. The tragic history of the ring which had caused its owner to die and a shadowy evil organisation pose challenges to them. --JDrama Weblog

Matsuzaka Tori to star in drama adaptation of mobile game “Kaito Royale”
Mobage’s highly popular social mobile game “Kaito Royale” is being adapted as a live-action television drama with an original story, starring actor Matsuzaka Tori (22). The show will also feature actor Fukushi Seiji (28) and actress Omasa Aya (20).
The game “Kaito Royale” reportedly has more than 10 million players and has already been adapted as a manga and a novel. In the game, each player controls a group of thieves, each categorized as one of three types: Intelligent, Macho, or Sexy. Using those thieves, the player must complete various missions to earn treasures, and players can also battle against or cooperate with other players.
In the “Kaito Royale” drama series, Matsuzaka will play the “chief” of his group, who is an Intelligent type. Omasa will play the Sexy type, and Fukushi will play the “Skill” type, an original character created for the show. These three thieves have lost their memories except for the past year, so they are working under the direction of a mysterious woman in order to regain their memories. There are also plans for the Macho type to appear, though the casting has not yet been announced.
“Kaito Royale” will air on TBS as the first show in the late night “Friday Drama NEO” time slot, which is replacing the “Friday Break” time slot. The series will premiere around the end of October.
I might check this one out. I enjoyed Matsuzaka Tori in Samurai Sentai Shinkenger and have been wanting to see another show of his. I'm also interested in watching him in GOLD once the English subs are finished for that series.
2PM’s Chansung joins “Kaito Royale” cast
Chansung (21), a member of the Korean group 2PM, has been given his first regular role in a Japanese television drama series. He will appear in the TBS series “Kaito Royale,” which was announced last month with a main cast of Matsuzaka Tori, Fukushi Seiji, and Omasa Aya.
“Kaito Royale” is based on a popular mobile social game in which players control a team of thieves to carry out various missions. Each thief is categorized as a specific type, and it was previously revealed that Matsuzaka, Fukushi, and Omasa will be playing the Intelligent, Skill, and Sexy types, respectively. Chansung has been cast as the Macho type.
It has also been announced that Maya Kyoko (59) will play the mysterious woman whom the thieves are working for. Shimojo Atom (64) will play a butler, and Sasaki Nozomi (23) will play another mysterious woman who could be either an enemy or an ally to the team of thieves.
“Kaito Royale” begins on October 28.
