Matsumoto Jun, Eita & Oizumi Yo to star in next Fuji TV Monday drama

Fuji TV revealed the first details about their Monday-9pm (‘Getsu 9′) drama for the winter season that will begin airing in January.

This season we get to enjoy a great female cast in a drama all about love and problems of women with “Watashi ga Renai Dekinai Ryuu“. Next season we can look forward to a real action drama called “Lucky Seven“, starring Arashi’s Matsumoto Jun, Eita, and Oizumi Yo as the members of a detective agency.

The story focuses on the seven members, three men and four women, that operate a small detective agency in Kitashinagawa, Tokyo. Teamwork is definitely going to be a strong theme of the drama, but it will be the original and thrilling cases that are going to keep the viewers at the edge of their seats.

Moreover, the viewers can look forward to some great action scenes, as Fuji TV was able to have “GANTZ” director Sato Shinsuke on board for the production. Aside from other activities, he will be in charge of all the action scenes. It’s said that it’s going to be the most thrilling drama Fuji TV has ever aired in their Monday time slot. Thus far, this time slot has been known more for its intense love stories rather than thrilling action dramas.

Matsumoto is going to portray the newest addition to the team, a real novice detective, who is completely absorbed in everything the job has to offer. Meanwhile, Eita is going to slip into the role of a really cool and calm guy, who regularly ends up in a confrontation with the new member due to their opposite personalities. Oizumi, as the senior of the two, will act as the self-proclaimed “middle man” and try to get them back on the same page whenever it’s necessary. Aside from that, he actually turns out to be quite a puzzling guy himself.

For Matsumoto, it has been a year and a half since his last Monday starring role in the drama, “Natsu no Koi wa Nijiiro ni Kagayaku“. He stated with confidence, “I think it’s going to become an intense drama, featuring seven completely different individuals. It will keep you excited and also make you laugh. I’m already all excited to have some great time with this team.”

Eita commented, “It looks like there are going to be a lot of action scenes together with Matsumoto. I want to sync with him to the best of my abilities.”

Oizumi seems to be quite eager as well, but he still is calm enough to joke around. He said, “The tension is incredible. It’s a getsu 9 drama after all! Please look forward to the love-triangle between Matsumoto, Eita, and me. (laughs)”

Lastly, Matsumoto added, “We want to show some great teamwork that will make all viewers want to join this team!”

The female members of the team have yet to be revealed.

Matsushima Nanako, Naka Riisa & more join Fuji TV’s ‘Lucky Seven’

It has just been announced that actress Matsushima Nanako is going to appear in Fuji TV’s upcoming Monday drama (‘getsu9′), ‘Lucky Seven‘. This will be her first role in a Monday drama since ‘Yamato Nadeshiko‘ in 2000.

Matsushima, who is currently starring in the much-talked about drama “Kaseifu no Mita“, is going to disguise herself as the female boss of a small team of investigators, three men and four women. As recently revealed with the announcement of the drama, the male cast is going to be made up of Arashi’s Matsumoto Jun as the protagonist, as well as the two actors Eita and Oizumi Yo. Additional to Matsushima, it also was announced that Naka Riisa, Fukiishi Kazue, Okae Kumiko, Kadono Takuzo, and Iriki Mari have been added to the cast.

She commented, “This time I’m supposed to play the female boss of a detective agency. Moreover I’m going to work with a great cast that’s brimming with individuality. I really can’t wait for the filming to begin.”

The small team of investigators is operating out of a high class multistory apartment in Kitashinagawa, Tokyo. Due to the teams wide variety of individuals, there are bound to be many conflicts between the members, but that only helps them to deepen their teamwork in order to overcame even the biggest difficulties. The female boss, ‘Fujisaki Toko’, plays a big part in keeping the team running smoothly. At first glimpse, she just looks like a really gorgeous woman, but underneath her appearance she’s impressing with great wisdom, decisiveness, courage, and a very strong mind. For the team she’s still a big mystery, but from case to case they gradually start to find out why she created this detective agency in the first place.

Naka Riisa is going to play a female member of the detective agency, ‘Mizuno Asuka’. She’s a very calm and composed woman who only plays an observer when her male colleagues once again cannot stop arguing back and forth. However, when it actually comes to doing their job, she plays a very important and active part within the team, and is not afraid of doing things that not even her male colleagues would have the guts for.

She commented, “This is going to be unlike any other Monday drama before. It’s cool and all, so that even men are going to be interested in it. Please look forward to it. I think I even saw some action scenes for my character, so you should certainly not miss those.”

Fukiishi Kazue is going to play an assistant inspector with ties to the detective agency, while Okae Kumiko will play the mother of the protagonist.

Fuji TV aims to completely overhaul the image of its Monday time slot, which is usually known for its grand love stories that are targeted towards the main TV audience, women between the age of 20 and 34. ‘Lucky Seven’, however, is said to become one entertaining and gripping piece of action drama that is going to entertain children and adults alike, both men and women. With the addition of Matsushima, they sure must have sparked the curiosity of a great amount of people that might have not watched this drama next season.

‘Lucky Seven’ is going to premier on January 16th, 2012.

Tanihara Shosuke to star in a ‘Lucky Seven’ spin-off drama

Fuji TV has just announced that they will be airing a spin-off of their upcoming Monday drama, ‘Lucky Seven‘, on Fuji TV Two. The spin-off is called ‘Shiritsu Tantei ★ Makabe Ryu‘ and will star Tanihara Shosuke as the private detective Makabe Ryu.

The story of the ‘Shiritsu Tantei ★ Makabe Ryu’ is set inside a detective drama that the characters of ‘Lucky Seven’ like to watch on TV. Especially the protagonist, played by Arashi’s Matsumoto Jun, has been a huge fan of the drama since his childhood and even mimics the words and poses of the fictional detective, Makabe Ryu.

Tanihara will disguise himself as a very flashy and hard-boiled detective, with his yellow hat and yellow trench coat. He solves all the cases that others can’t around the world, making even the CIA feel envious of his skills.

This original comedy is going to get four episodes in total and will actually already begin to air before the start of the Monday drama, which is a first for Fuji TV’s spin-off projects.

Tanihara commented, “While not losing sight of the comedic elements, I’d like to play the character of Makabe with all its seriousness.” Further, knowing that Matsumoto will have to mimic his action as his childhood hero, he added, “I know that this might cause trouble for Matsumoto who is looking up to my character, but I’m not going to hold back during the filming.”

A drama inside a drama. Since the ‘Makabe Boom’ still seems to apparent during the actualy story of ‘Lucky Seven’, we might even get a couple of glimpses of detective Makabe on TV throughout the episodes.

‘Shiritsu Tantei ★ Makabe Ryu’ will air its first episode on January 14th, 2012.

Fuji TV drama ‘Lucky Seven’ to air a drama special in spring

On October 16th, Fuji TV announced that they are going to air a special episode of their 2012 winter drama ‘Lucky Seven‘ starring Arashi’s Matsumoto Jun in spring 2013.

The drama followed a team of seven private detectives that struggled with various difficult cases. Matsumoto was supported by an ensemble of great actors such as Eita, Matsushima Nanako, Oizumi Yo, and Naka Riisa. One highlight of ‘Lucky Seven’ were the actions scenes featuring Matsumoto and Eita, but it also offered a lot of comical situations, which turned it into a very successful drama with a season-average rating of 15.6%.

In spring the team of seven are going to tackle yet another difficult case in a new special episode that will also feature two prominent guest stars with actress Ishihara Satomi and actor Oikawa Mitsuhiro. The protagonist ‘Tokita Shuntaro’ (Matsumoto) is approaching the secretary in order to get to the bottom of the financial crimes, but he soon realizes that his feelings for her aren’t all that fake. He has completely fallen for her devilish charm and keeps on losing sight of his actual objective.

Filming for the special began on October 13th and Matsumoto commented, “I want it to become a special episode that makes you laugh, but also features a lot of action and a thrilling pace.”

Ishihara expressed, “I’m looking forward to work with Matsumoto again. It has been a while that we worked together. I haven’t played that many mysterious characters in dramas so far, but I’d like to work hard and enjoy this new experience.”
