i think its just the decline of western civilization in general. cuz all i hear about on the news in america is either

a) politicians either caught buying prostitutes, being gay, corruption....just all kinds of bad stuff
or
b) RELIGIOUS people caught being fraudulent, being gay, lying, stealing from their donations, molesting their young altarboys
or
c) various robberies, rapes, murders, and kidnappings around the city (forget the whole country, just too many crimes to count)
or
d) some B.S. about some movie star's fabulous yet somehow traumatic life.

(but seriously.....how do you molest someone on a train ? or, how do you do it and not get caught? i'm having a hard time believing that)

Every day I read the Mainichi Shinbunp online and I'm amazed at the number of people in high positions of power who are caught having sex with underage girls, molesting underage girls on trains, or taking advantage of underage girls in other situations.
Why are there so many lolicons in Japan? Or does it just seems that way because every instance is reported in the news?

On the other side of this issue is the numerous Jr High and High School girls prostituting themselves on cellphone matchmaking sites. They are making $$$ off the lolicons and use it to buy the latest fashions. It doesn't seem the Japanese government is doing anything to stop the other side of issue.

Next, has anyone else noticed how many people commit suicide by jumping in front of trains in Japan. The Japanese don't do suicide half assed. It isn't like in the US where someone tries to off themselves by taking a bunch of pills and failing at death just as bad as they failed at life. Everyday in the Japanese news you get a story that reads like this... "<Insert Random Japanese Name> jumped in front of an oncoming train bound far <Insert Destination> at <Insert Station Name>. Trains were delayed <Random # Minutes> inconveniencing <Insert Random Large #> people." The funny thing is, the article focuses more on how many people were inconvenienced rather than the guy committing suicide. It seems to be socially acceptable to commit suicide in Japan as long as no one is inconvenienced by it.

Finally, there is the issue of sexless marriages. People in Japan just don't have sex after they are married. Almost every Jr High student is having sex 3 times a day but once they marry, that is it, no more sex. I'm not kidding about all the Jr High students having sex. I have 3 friends who are former JETs and they all told me the same thing. (Well this is another social issue that can be discussed.) Anyways, why does the sex stop in Japan? Why are there so many unhappy, sexless couples? I have a story that may relate to the issue. I was on a tour of Mt Fuji this past fall and the tour guide was a 60 year old Japanese man. He believed that a woman's role was in the home taking care of the man. Doing whatever the man wanted. Cooking, cleaning, sex. He blamed the raise of sexless marriages and the decline of the population on the Japanese Women not performing their duties properly. He also commented that many Japanese men beat their wives. This completely blew me away. Moreover, he didn't have a problem with it.
Are people like this guy the entire problem? Or what is the problem?

There are so many more social issues I could add, but this is a good starting point.

These aern't just japanese problems they're everywhere problems. I think your just reading too much of one newspaper.

You think that civilizations back in ancient times didn't have those problems?Well they did it's just in modern times, with advances in technology, news travels faster.

And molestation on trains are not uncommon in Japan,it's usually done in the mornings when the trains are packed and all the people are crushed up against one another like sardines in a can.In fact train groping in Japan is such a serious problem that many stations have added a train cart just for women.

Also for your religion comment. In ancient times many religions embraced human sexuality and priests were considered state servants, and lived lives of luxury.

True, but it seems like the teen violence/suicide rate is higher compared to others. Anyone remember the girl killing her own father with her hatchet? There was a boy who fought over video games with his brother, and jumped off the building, and the 3rd episode of Shugofumi was edited due to a shooting incident involing a teen. Also, I have link for all of these, (except the video game part, but it came from another source.) in case someone calls me a lier, like yesterday.

remember the menendes brothers? They killed their own parents. Remember PS3 launch when someone got shot for their PS3? Teens are shot all the time everywhere. Its all in the publicity the event garnered. People are pretty much the same everywhere they just speak a different language.

Hm, I never thought of that. I did hear about the shootings for PS3 in North America, but they were teens? Well, I didn't know.

It might be uncommon, but that actually happened a few times in Japan????

A 'few times' is an understatement.

Yes. Some sick guy actually sent me a sick video of a schoolgirl tied up to a chair he is groping her slowly. So, I guess girls there do lose their virginity at a very young age.
