Angel Beats is the one I wish so hard I watched sooner. I passed it over so many times when I saw it on Netflix. Once it was over I wanted to slap myself for not giving it the time it deserved.

Definately Steins;Gate (I've just finally watched it thanks to the Funimation DVD/Blu-Ray Release) I so wish I had watched this on Streaming when it first aired (same with Tiger & Bunny)

Just started watching Jormungand at Funimation a lot like Black Lagoon ,arms dealer,shady countries etc lots of action and intrigue.Not going to spoil the plot.Thats like 3 animes this week 2 Ive finished and now this one has me saying I better check out more carefully.

There are quite a few, but one of the first ones was Code Geass. After watching Death Note, I was trying different things in order to find something similar (like Bleach, FMA, and some other stuff), but ironically, I never touched Code Geass until like a year later.
I was young and fresh to the world of anime, so I thought that Code Geass was just going to be some predominately mecha themed show (and I never really liked the whole "mecha" thing). You can imagine my pleasant surprise when it turned out to be much more than that.
Stuff like this continues to happen even though i'm slightly more seasoned, though now it tends to happen with slice of life comedies rather than shonen-y stuff as my tastes have radically changed. As an example, something similar happened with Ichigo Marshmallow and Nichijou.

fma brotherhood follows the manga pretty much exactly i think, wheras fma doesn't.
although ive not actually watched fma only fma brotherhood. i refuse to watch it as i feel it will spoil fma serie for me.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Seriously.
I've seen it so many times all over the web and always thought that it was just your average pink-kawaii-desu-underaged-magic-girl type show. Normally I dislike the Magic Girl genre, and seeing how purposefully ~*kawaii*~ they made the show look turned me right off of it.
Then after hearing about how "terribly heartbreaking and sad" it was (and sort of liking Mami's character design) I decided to just jump in and give it a try.
And within the first few minutes I was completely sold on it. The music and art alone really impressed me right off the bat, as did the characters and story later on. I'm so happy that I decided to give it a try because it's now one of my favorite series. |
