Now. Please excuse my attitude. I'm tired of reading posts and comments saying that basically Nintendo's fucked up.

Why does no one realize the learning curve that comes with a new console or handheld?

The PS3 had it, the XBox360 had it, and Hell, even the Wii had it. The Vita's having it, and the 3DS had it. Now it's gonna be the WiiU, the XBox1, and the PS4. Every console and handheld has a learning curve. For the first year or two, shit goes haywire and they get practically no sales. They're always pricey, so people are hesitant in buying them. They don't generally have a shitton of launch games, so it takes time to build an early library.

Everyone is ripping on the WiiU, and I bet no one is going to notice it when the SAME FUCKING THING happens to your little XBox and PS4 as well. This always happens for every console and handheld, It's not a fucking crisis. It happens every generation. Quit ripping on one console and learn some patience.

Sorry for the rant. Just thought I should let people know. It's not the company's fault. We're in this wonderful thing called a Recession, thanks to a certain irresponsible president. People are kind of hesitant in blowing upwards of 350-400 dollars on a brand new console that at the moment has nothing going for it.

I guarantee. Once we get a Zelda, SSB, Mario, or Mario Kart, Nintendo will be rolling in dough. Just like the PS4 is gonna sell a shitton with a new MGS and Persona or SMT. And the same goes for XBox with a new COD or whatever their selling franchises are.

The reason why the Wii U isn't doing as well is because of a lack of games primarily. It will almost certainly never get to the level of the Wii either however. The Wii's success was due, similarly to the DS, to breaking open that casual game market with the whole motion control gimmick. It got people who never bought or were interested in playing video games into the market.
However, that same market is the type who doesn't see any significant difference between the Wii and the Wii U. For them, the thought is "I already have a Wii, why would I buy another one" they can't break open the same market twice.

With the Wii U they now have to compete more directly with the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox one in the same "core gamers" market space. Right now, they don't have the games for that, and they are technologically on the low end in the 'next generation' again.

I only play one game on my Wii U, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, the only reason I bought the console actually. There's nothing else of much interest for me right now, and the lack of games is why it's doing so poorly now. Most likely it will improve holiday time this year, but I don't expect they'll have the sales dominance they had with the Wii.
