I would much like an option to be able to disable comments under each video as people are always putting spoilers in comments and that is down right wrong and we don't need comments under videos anyways.

This could be a per user option.

Yeah i thought this too, would be awesome if possible because after the little hiccup where comments were gone. I kinda of enjoyed it, that temptation where i have to force myself not to look down and have that episode ruined. I can start my episode and watch it happily (When it loads that is).
It's not major i mean i can struggle to ignore them, i just would love it if i could turn them off

Yeah, there is already a comments section per series (open a series and you'll see tabs labeled: Videos, Reviews, Comments & More Info) so it is highly unnecessary to have comments under each video since there is already a comments section per series.

Honestly, I haven't watched a video on the website in a couple months, but even when I did, I never paid any attention to the comments; same with YouTube. Are there really any valuable conversations going on there?

Great suggestion. I'd like to see this also. Maybe the comments could be hidden by default and only "turned on" (visible) by the individual user (in the user Settings or on each episode page).

There is a spoiler tag for a reason, I think if anything there should be more consequences if they are purposefully posting spoilers without that tag, I'm not sure if there is a report feature (I don't really take notice), but for consequences it should lock them out of commenting for x amount of time, and the time increases if it keeps happening, if there are too many on a specific anime they get banned from commenting on that anime related videos, and if they end up getting banned on a few different animes then they can't comment on any anime videos, they would have to appeal the ban on the forums.

This would be a waste of time and effort better spent somewhere else. The only time I even look at a comment before watching is if I want to know, consider this a chance to work on your self discipline.

i like reading the comments. they are episode specific and even if you don't like them you do not have to read them it is your choice after all don't ruin it for the rest of us!

Well, personally I don't scroll down to the comments until I have seen the episode. Therefore I can not be upset/angry. Simple soloution.

on YouTube i think it might be a bit "insane", curse the TV for not being able to tell them we don't like that part of the show when half of it was good... this way the other half can be worked on... tho i know there are a lot of empty bags of meat that are mistaken for humans and some how manages to type but aside from those you have actual people with real opinions on what they saw and ideas to how to fix it OR what was good and make more of that!

so YouTube comment are useful even if some times annoying. (as much as people are i guess since it is people who posts...)

CR on the other hand... the companies... do they read those? maybe the team of CR uses the info on who liked what and can better get the next seasons of anime or what to keep/remove/add... but to use it may just be another social platform where we interact... BUT if they don't read any comments, then how do they decide if we liked an anime? i just realized i never rated an anime and i don't see where we click "like" in the page, so how do they get the stars to grow? like somewhere you probably can click like/dislike and based on views and like/dislike the star moves right?

so CR comments with the limited 240 letters cannot produce much constructive comments AND most of the time you have a comment that might not be spoiler really but to others it is...

like saying "ohh how cute the way she acted" might count as spoiler if the character was always mad and non-amicable... but in an other anime would be totally pointless with no substance...

you can't have much constructive opinion in 240 letters so usually it amounts to "she's hot", "insert funny joke here", "insert sexist joke here", "insert non-offensive i don't like this show/character"(and get -90 down votes for no valid reason...)

so i get that CR comments can kind of seem pointless... unless they actually use the info for what to add next and what to keep!
