I was one of those who'd pre-ordered Sankarea, and emailed FUNi for a disc replacement, when they announced that they had screwed up and released the TV-edit version. Must have been more calls for replacements than they'd anticipated, as here's what their reply was:

Dear Customer,

After reviewing materials, FUNimation has decided to issue a recall on the recent Sankarea release (this applies to both the Limited Edition and Alt versions), rather than the previously offered disc replacement, as the rating on the release will now change from TV14 to TVMA. Due to the rating change, we cannot send replacement discs.

If you have purchased this release, and would like a refund, please return product to your retailer. Do not return to Funimation.

We apologize for the inconvenience. We plan to re-release this title with the new materials at a later date once the discs have been authored.

Now, don't that just beat all? Rather than honoring their own recall, they try and dump it in the Retailer's laps to eat the costs.
Poorly, poorly played, FUNimation! Very poorly, indeed.

I bought it, right when I got it in the mail I requested a refund from amazon and sent it back. Time to wait again for it to re-release....

Got mine from Amazon. Chatted with their CSR and got the purchase refunded. Was told to just keep the copy I had, too. Gotta like Amazon, RightStuf, and others like them, aye.
However, I still think they (the Retailers) are being very poorly used by FUNi in all this.

I'm sure the retailer dings Funimation in some way for the cost and inconvenience. They'd be stupid not to. and I don't think they are powerless.
