Dear CR,

I'm so ecstatic about One Piece finally being added to your lineup! Now I dont have to worry about jumping over to different sites to watch this show. Totally excited about this! Thanks again!

Now all you need is Toriko! lol Your fans are never satisfied.

I really hate global licensing issues. Not just for sites like Crunchyroll being forced to limit their audience but popular films getting a huge delay for the UK release while people in the US keep talking like everyone has access to the content and should watch it now ("what are you waiting for?" I'm waiting for the movie to come out).

If media companies really care about piracy issues they need to find a solution to problems like this. When people who are ready to give them their money to enjoy their content have to wait a ridiculous amount of time while the internet is saying "watch it now, it's available" is what draws them to pirate it just so they don't have to endure the wait any more.

So what you're trying to tell us is that Europe still doesn't get HD One Piece? That's a pretty astonishing disappointment for us to be left out considering we have no other means to access a half decent version than on [removed illegal site linkage].

Surely for paying the same amount and for not being a slim portion of your subs, the talks should have included us right?

Sincerely
A Disappointed European

Believe me, if CR could get rights to stream things everywhere then they would.

There are legal loopholes to jump through and OTHER licensing companies in the countries that have been "seemingly left out" to deal with. It's just the way how licensing works--other companies have won outright bids for exclusivity (in this case) to show certain anime in that country they service. Making Crunchyroll look like they've intentionally done this to slight European customers is truly baseless considering it is one of the major areas that CR focuses on when trying to get rights to a show.

All I can say is that if we don't get UK rights, it's because we are blocked from getting them since UK/English speaking countries are one of our main focuses along with USA/CA, Latin America/Spain, Brazil/Portugal, the just announced France expansion and there may be another one coming soon. Building an infrastructure region by region helps show Publishers that it is worth it to give us rights for those regions.

For the just announce Kill la Kill region expansion, you can see that we are being severely blocked in Europe given the 2 month delaycast for Europe only and even then, major European countries are excluded completely. Unfortunately nothing we can do but keep on pushing for more next season.

Read post#1 in this thread ... OK, scroll down through all the pics and hype to the information (that ought to be above the embedded video, hint, hint):

Starting THIS Saturday, November 2, Crunchyroll will be simulcasting One Piece at 7pm Pacific Daylight Time with episode 619, for both Premium AND Free members! All previous episodes will be also be available on Crunchyroll at a later date.

One Piece will be available to Crunchyroll audiences in the following territories: USA, Canada, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and Latin America.

So, Wafflebrain, no, its not in the EU, and no, its not just the US ~ its North and South America and the Caribbean and the three Super Rugby countries. If there weren't license complications in the way, it wouldn't have taken two years to get rights to even that many countries.

And yes, melneseg & phogan, the deal does involve eventually hosting all previous episodes ~ more complete information coming later.

I have no idea why they've hidden the two most important pieces of information so far down in the announcement.
