So far, my favorites are:
1. Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! Ren
2. Tonari no Seki-kun
3. Silver Spoon Season 2
4. Wizard Barristers
5. Nobunagun

I've already dropped a number of series including Space Dandy, Strange+, etc. I'm still catching up on Saki, so I haven't started Saki: The Nationals yet, though I know I'll love it.

stardf29's Winter 2014 Scoreboard and Watching Plans (1/17/14 Edition)

First a look at the scoreboard for continuing shows. Starting next week, I'll start including this season's new shows in the scoreboard.

Continuing Scoreboard:
Log Horizon (15): 9.3
Yowamushi Pedal (14): 8.9
Golden Time (13): 8.2 (-0.5)
Kill la Kill (13): 7.5

Golden Time drops as I'm not too fond of the direction it went in episode 13. Episode 14 is better but I'm still hesitant on the direction of the series.

Anyway, now for the priority tiers for the season. This is what I'll be watching this season, at least for now. I'm grouping the shows into tiers just to make it more organized, as it is actually more like one continuous list going all the way down. Also, starting from next week, the scoreboard will also double as a priority list--more on that next week, though. Of course, what happens in the shows themselves can send a show up or down the list… or can cause it to get dropped right on the spot. But for now, here's what I'm watching...

Top Priority:
- Silver Spoon S2 (import chance: 99%)
- Engaged to the Unidentified (import chance: 50%)
- Love, Chunibyo and Other Delusions! Ren
- Saki - The Nationals
- Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha. (import chance: 30%)

These shows are the ones I'm going to try to watch first thing the day they come out. There are a lot of really, really great shows here, and it turns out, a couple of new shows are among them, too. The sequels are all sequels, and to 9.4-9.7 point shows as well, so that's to be expected, and so far, things in them are going as good as I have hoped for them (Saki getting a pass mainly because it's adapting manga material).

That leaves the two new shows. I've already talked about how much I love Mikakunin/Engaged (sheesh, I'm never going to really decide what to call that show!), and I'm even eyeing a potential import of it. The other big show to suddenly appear on my radar was Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha. It gives some mild Gingitsune vibes, which is a very good thing; plus, it's just plain adorable. There is a chance I'll import this as well.

High Priority:
- Log Horizon (continuing) (import chance: 5%)
- Yowamushi Pedal (continuing)
- Seitokai Yakuindomo S2
- Sakura Trick

These shows are the first shows I'll be going for when the above shows are taken care of. They're all great shows that I'm very much looking forward to.

Man, Log Horizon has been fantastic. I'm giving it an outside chance of an import, but being a longer series, it'd require that it finishes at least above 9.7 for that to come to pass, and even then, I might only import a couple of the better volumes. Beyond that, Yowamushi Pedal is still good, Seitokai Yakuindomo* is still fun, and Sakura Trick… actually, that one's kind of complicated, but for now, it's one of shows I'm looking forward to most among non-sequel/continuing shows.

Middle Priority:
- Golden Time (continuing)
- Nisekoi
- D-Frag!
- Wake Up, Girls!

I'm definitely liking these shows. Despite Golden Time's latest direction being kind of troubling, I'm still looking forward to it, plus being a continuing show gives it a bit of an edge over the new shows. Not much to say about Nisekoi or D-Frag!; both are fun. Wake Up, Girls! is not exactly the prettiest idol show out there (in many ways), but I'm starting to warm up to its style, and it did have a good moment in the latest episode.

Lower Priority:
- Kill la Kill (continuing)
- World Conquest ~ Zvezda Plot
- The Pilot's Love Song
- Hozuki no Reitetsu

These aren't necessarily bad shows. They're all good in their own way, just not quite at the level of the shows above. In particular, I'm interested to see if World Conquest can live up to some of the potential I've seen in the first episode. Not much else to say about these.

Alternate Tier:
* Pokemon XY (dub, starts February 1st)
* Space Dandy (dub)

And then, these two shows, which are broadcast dubbed, are there because, well, they're dubbed and I can do other things while watching them (since I don't have to pay as much attention to the subs). Otherwise, I probably wouldn't watch them.

The Short Circuit:
- Tonari no Seki-kun
- Onee-chan ga Kita!

I like shorts! They're comfy and easy to wear.

Tonari no Seki-kun is actually really good for a short (though it helps that I already like the manga).

- Magical Warfare
- Strange+
- Super Sonico
- Witch Craft Works
- Wizard Barristers

Super Sonico just didn't really give me a good feel to it, so that's out. I've also decided against Strange+, because… eh. And I've completely given up on the three magic shows; both Magical Warfare and Witch Craft Works ultimately had too mediocre opening episodes for me to really care about more, and Wizard Barristers, I can just tell from its opening sequence is the type of show that I'm horrible with keeping up with weekly, so I dropped it about a minute in. >_> If it turns out to be good, I might watch it later.

So that's 19 shows + 2 shorts that I'm following this season (17 if the dubbed shows are not included). That's… quite a lot. It's Summer 2013 all over again. >_>

I won't rank any and I'm only going to name my top 3.

Space Dandy
Tonari no Seki-kun

Also, I will state as I usually do that I don't include returning series since they already have a lap on other series, at least for me. Unless it develops Infinite Stratos Syndrome, then I'll add it to my worst of the season list, and I've never had one of those yet. Except since IS2

I've only picked up SYD season 2 so far as I don't have all that much time. Nobunga the Fool looks like it might be worthwhile, though I'm honestly good enough with just my Hunter X, Magi, One Piece, and Golden TIme atm.

Watched the first 2 episodes of Hamatora and Magical Warfare. Hamatora has a strong start, the magic is interesting, the action is done well, and I like the characters. Nothing that sticks out to me as awesome, but worth watching more of. Magical Warefare gripped me in the first couple minutes, but went down hill from there. I'll give it a couple more episodes, maybe it will pick up more.

Okay, here's my final list for the season after previewing everything I wanted to. A few could change after I get into a few more episodes, especially since I'm attempting to watch more than normal this season.

Watching weekly:
Buddy Complex A bit generic but the time travel element is interesting, and hard to pass up a Sunrise mech.
D-Frag! Great cast, and been super funny so far.
Future Card Buddyfight I don't know why, but am loving this so far. And the dub is fantastic!
Happiness Charge PreCure Not premiering until Feb, but I haven't watched a PreCure in a while and looks good so will be watching.
Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha Unexpected, but first episode was fantastic.
Nisekoi Love the manga, and the Shaft animation is gorgeous.
Noragami One of my favorites so far this season.
Nourin LOL, and KanaHana's Minori is to die for!
Onee-chan ga Kita Still not 100% on this one; but it's a short, gave a few laughs, and I like the animation.
Silver Spoon S2 Already as good as the first season, hope it gets picked up for more.
Space Dandy Also not 100% on this one. It's been decent so far, but not living up to the hype yet.
Strange+ Kind of cheesy, but the nods at Detective Conan are keeping me coming back.
Tonari no Seki-kun Probably my favorite of the season so far. Super funny, and KanaHana is gold!
Wake Up, Girls! Again unexpected, but been very good so far.
Witch Craft Works Great animation/action and a cool story.
Z/X Ignition Honestly it's been a meh start, but has an awesome cast/concept will give it a few more eps.

Marathon once completed:
Engaged to the Unidentified
Magical Warfare
The Pilot's Love Song

Will watch once finished earlier seasons:
Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! Ren
Maken-Ki 2
Phi Brain Kami no Puzzle S3
Saki S3

Will give another chance once completed:
Hozuki no Reitetsu
Nobunaga the Fool
Wizard Barristers
World Conquest Zvezda Plot

Recently, My Sister is Unusual
Sakura Trick
Super Sonico

Alright. I've seen enough to be past first impressions, and I've made a decision on all but one show, here's my official ranking:

1. Nobunagun
I was expecting to like this show. I wasn't expecting to love this show, but I do. Lots of great action, Shio's loads of fun but also gets some time for good character development, almost no sexy fanservice, it's really just everything I want all the time every episode.

2. Engaged to the Unidentified
I was a bit uncertain about the concept, but they've done an admirable job of making it both nice and funny, and the characters are probably the best of any this season.

Tonari no Seki-kun
No ranking because it's a series of shorts, but they're very good shorts.

3. Hozuki no Reitetsu
I've been a fan of "bureaucratic afterlife comedy" ever since I first read The Screwtape Letters and anytime it shows up again I'm happy to see it. It's definitely something that requires you know about the right sorts of things to get the jokes, but thankfully I do often enough.

4. Wake Up, Girls!
I'm not quite as big on this show as I was during the first episode, but I'm still enjoying it mostly. If nothing else the characters are interesting, and that can absolve a lot of issues, and this show doesn't have that many.

5. Love, Chunibyo and Other Delusions Ren
It'd probably help if I'd seen the first part, but I'm liking it anyway. The main couple are both quite cute in their different ways and the humor is pretty good. :)

6. Sakura Trick
The surprise of the season for me. I was expecting an unmitigated fanservicefest with nothing else to it. It's still higher than I usually like there, but it's succeeded very well in making me like the main characters and despite some rockiness at first the humor's started clicking for me.

Taking one episode at a time

7. World Conquest Zvezda Plot
On the one hand I really love the concept of such a weird group honestly making a bid at taking over the world. On the other hand, the humor just isn't quite working. It's enough that I can give it a bit more time to prove itself, though.

8. Wizard Barristers
This one is sooooooo close to being a show I like it's almost painful. But it's just not working. I think I was hoping for less wizard and more barristers? Or at least less action, I've got enough of that already with Nobunagun. It's not a bad show, it's just not enough for me.

9. Hamatora
Nice idea, not the best execution. Sorry.

10. The Pilot's Love Song
I think I got bored and started playing Animal Crossing at some point in watching this? Eventually the first episode ended and I didn't start the second.

11. Nisekoi
Meh. I really can't bring myself to care enough about this show one way or another to say more than that.

12. D-Fragments
Also meh with some slight uncertain annoyance on top for some reason?

13. Witch Craft Works
Uggggggggh I couldn't even get halfway through the first episode. The main characters both actively put me off. I was expecting to like this, or at least the idea of the active woman protecting her passive male "princess" is something I was prepared to enjoy, but no no no no NO not when it's that woman and that princess.
