I can agree with that. Intent is a driving point. Imo, it had to be eliminated and be treated evenly across every individual. Else misunderstandings of usage can occur.

This is true. It's a balancing act.

I agree and disagree. Calling someone the n-word is racist by definition, even if it isn't discrimination. The only way I could see it not being racist is if you call all the people you care about the n-word regardless of their race. And I bet a lot of people call only their black friends niggas.

Probably because they don't want to offend someone who isn't use to being called that. Getting rid of the word altogether is one way, but with free speech and all that...

To hate somebody for their physical appearance, religion, politics, or skin color is wrong and I believe the US came a long ways since the 1800's. I also believe in positive discrimination. Let me explain if I find out you were a member of a gang and still wear colors, was sent to prison multiple times, or convicted of sex crimes I won't give you the time of day. Does that make me a racist I have no problem being called one if its known that I hate criminals with a passion. I believe there can be different types of racism both positive and negative versions.

It just has to stop being used as it will never be okay for non-african americans to use the n word.

Oh that's a good point, and I bet that's true to an extent. But I still believe some don't call others the n-word because of their skin color.

it's like cockroaches. you can't kill it and it'll never go away.

even if people begin to look similar to one another, they will find other ways of discriminating against one another. it's within their nature.

you can't really ever have true equality, it's sort of like utopia, nice to imagine, but cannot exist.

Probably but the word isn't the biggest issue...

that the old generation has to stop screwing the younger generation and keep feeding racist thoughts into meaningless things. Racism is just a no go.

It makes me sick to my stomach. I honestly don't know why everyone judges each other over their race and stuff like that. It's their belief leave them be. And to discriminate based on color is just silly. I feel like this generation has the brains of 7yr olds. Tsk. -.-

You know what is scary about opinions? Even racist people are allowed to have them. Opinions are like assholes, everybody has one. But then again what constitutes as an asshole?

I'd ignore it and keep walking with my head high like I'm suppose to.

It seems that most of the people on this thread have about the same thoughts regarding racism however there is something that really annoys me that people just disregard. As a black person I absolutely hate when people say things like "I am racist to my own race so its ok", I mostly hear white people say it, with the whole white shame trend nowadays. It is not ok, you are still being impartial to a race which is racism you can't argue that it is not having effect because look at all the people who say this now.And there is no magical "it's impossible to self hate" inhibitor I mean look at Hitler, his father was a Jew!

Actually the rumor was that his Grandfather was a Jew if I remember correctly. His dad didn't have an actual registered father, but since his mother worked for a Jewish family some people have assumed that his grandfather was one of the sons named Leopold Frankenburger. Apparently Frankenburger isn't even recorded in history so no one really takes that theory to heart.

Well there's this, but E1B1B1 gene isn't found exclusively in Jewish populations so the study seems worthless in my opinion.

Racism doesn't exist. It's an excuse for sensitive people to get people who crack a joke about them in trouble. Same goes for sexism, homophobia, ETC. lol
