Racism will never end, you liberal ideologues can't seem to come to terms with that, we've made great progress, let's not talk of reopening old wounds of the past because of one disgusting act of terror.

As long as they are humans, we will have wars, xenophobia, racism, murder, rape, ect...

This realization of human nature doesn't mean we shouldn't try to mitigate the severity of our more primitive side, but to think you can "solve" human nature is absurd, anyone who think this, is just as batshit crazy as the racists.

This may put a spin on things.

I have had racist impulses many times in the past. One example is when a Puerto Rican kid stole some money from me during High School. One of my best friends was Puerto Rican, nicest guy I knew, but that still didn't stop me from wanting to shout something racist at the one who stole my money.

For me anyway, racism is an impulsive emotional outburst. I consciously have to restrain myself. I know race doesn't matter. Which means that my real problem lies somewhere else, but racism seems to be the most convenient outlet for my anger.

I suppose you can say I am kind of pseudo-Vulcan. Vulcans aren't void of emotion, they just have learned to consciously deal with it. I think that is the problem with open racists. They don't know how to deal with their emotions, and racism is just the easiest way to express them.

This of course doesn't include historical events where racism was useful to further a specific agenda. Take slavery in the south for example. No matter how you look at it emotionally, it was useful for plantation owners to have people remain racist. It gave them cheap labor. So whether they actually hated their slaves because of their race or not was irrelevant, they had incentive to keep them enslaved. That is a bit different from the emotional knee-jerk racist feelings I have felt in the past.

I kinda get what you mean, but there are a million different derogatory terms you can use to vent your anger. But I guess when you are pissed you really aren't thinking too much and just go for low-hanging fruit. Still, if someone called me anything racist to my face it'd be on like Donkey Kong. jk Just don't fuck with the money and we're cool.

Care to explain? I'm getting the idea that you're saying racism towards white people doesn't exist, but that would be an absurd statement. So you must be talking about something else.

Going by the generally accepted meaning of the word 'racist' saying racism against white people does not exist is actually a racist statement in and of itself.

This is another case, as from the thread on sexism, of someone calling 'systemic racism' just racism. A completely different concept. In addition, just to blow this out of the water, even systemic racism against whites does exist. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zimbabwe#Post-Independence_.281980.E2.80.93present.29

"Robert Mugabe began to forcibly redistribute this land to his associates in 2000. Poorly managed confiscation of white farmland (accompanied by brutality and corruption), continuous droughts, and a serious drop in external finance and other supports led to a sharp decline in agricultural exports,"

Who 'systemic' racism exists against is entirely dependent on the part of the world that person is in and the dominant culture groups.

Every race has dealt/deals with racism at some point or another. That's a fact so deal with it. Everyone is just as capable of being racist towards another as the next guy. Some just choose to take the high road while others...not so much. It won't end unless people take it upon themselves to change themselves first.

I agree. It's strange how some people think racism goes one way but not another. Same with sexism. But thinking that way is the very definition of racism and sexism. But I'm willing to give the original poster the benefit of the doubt until she gives a more thorough explanation.

what race and gender are you? the reason reverse racism and sexism doesn't exist is because white men have never need oppression in the past and it is still present today

Must be nice to live in your own little world with no knowledge of how reality actually is... Let's not be ignorant here people. Whites can experience racism. Hell, I lived it growing up in the ghetto as a child years ago. Try being the only white kid in an otherwise all black area and tell me how that goes. Granted, I will say it is much less frequent and noticed for a white person to experience racism, but it exists. To say otherwise is just fucking stupid and an insult to my childhood. I swear...some kids these days.

You also said racism, not systemic racism. Do I really need to give examples of 1 off racism against whites in the USA? Whites being called cracka and honky?

You're bollocking now. Reverse racism doesn't exist because reverse racism is just racism. Any kind of hierarchy based on race is racism. Reversing the hierarchy is still just good old fashioned racism.

When I was little I lived in subsidized housing occupied almost entirely by whites. Then when I was around 4-6, I don't remember exactly when, a large number of black families moved in and their kids decided to start out by beating up all the little white kids, myself included, for no reason than we existed afaik. Add to that and my authority figures teaching me to racist it took me until my early-mid teenage years to realize I was really quite racist and to teach myself out of it.
