Must be nice to live in your own little world with no knowledge of how reality actually is... Let's not be ignorant here people. Whites can experience racism. Hell, I lived it growing up in the ghetto as a child years ago. Try being the only white kid in an otherwise all black area and tell me how that goes. Granted, I will say it is much less frequent and noticed for a white person to experience racism, but it exists. To say otherwise is just fucking stupid and an insult to my childhood. I swear...some kids these days.
When I was little I lived in subsidized housing occupied almost entirely by whites. Then when I was around 4-6, I don't remember exactly when, a large number of black families moved in and their kids decided to start out by beating up all the little white kids, myself included, for no reason than we existed afaik. Add to that and my authority figures teaching me to racist it took me until my early-mid teenage years to realize I was really quite racist and to teach myself out of it.

Glad you grew out of it.

I've never considered myself racist at any point in life. While I've experienced it, it's not a reason for me to feel the same way about another race. It would be immature and naive to do so. I understand why people do it and how it could easily affect someone, especially at a young age. Still, it's no excuse to display that kind of thing towards another human being, regardless of whatever "reasons" someone thinks they have.

Of course, I just dislike people in general. I don't discriminate. I hate everyone equally but if I'm left alone then we're all good.

People don't normally call themselves racist. In the same way most Nazis did not consider themselves bad guys, bad people don't generally think they are bad.

When you have enough self reflection to realize, "You're a bad person" it causes most people to try to change. In the same way my realization I was racist gave me a strong cause for change.

After my experiences as a kid, plus my uncle, grandfather, et al all teaching me black people were bad, racist words for various ethnicities including blacks, etc to me it seemed quite normal and what everyone did. I think about the time I realized I was racist was also the time I realized I did not have a belief in a deity and that every person is their own person and should get a fair chance at life. So my early and mid teens were quite the time of self reflection.

I haven't read everyone's posts yet, just the first page, but I'm surprised no one has mentioned "Fox News" yet when they refer to the "media".

Most mainstream media (Fox News, CNN, etc) are pretty much the same but for their respective parties they support.

Racism exist everywhere in the world... don't act like its just about color... I know that for some reason the feeling that only white people can be racist is what the media has adopted and they take the side of the blacks on everything... no one wants to admit that some of the blacks that got killed by the cops were criminals or in the wrong neighborhood... there are neighborhoods you just don't go down if you white and same goes for blacks.. I don't agree with the way the cops are killing unarmed black people but to try to say they were all innocent is wrong as well... I'm tired of the double standard... there are laws that force white business owners to hire blacks but nothing to make blacks hire white or i would love to see the court case of some white person suing over it like you do with blacks... Education there is a double standard as well.. blacks are allowed black only scholarships but nothing can be for whites only. If you want racism to stop then stop these practices it only adds to racism because my dad happens to be a business owner and every black person he has hired has stolen from him .. so why should he keep hiring them.... 5 for 5. No whites have stolen from him... these people were caught on camera so don't try to say how do we know for sure..

Can't we all agree that we should just hate each other equally.

Hate wouldn't exist anymore. Words exist to distinguish.

This is what happens when you use out of date ideas like race where are no races there are variances in genetic make up between humans based upon where their ethnicity originated. So we really should stop using the term race since we are all the same species the genetic variation is not enough to signify different species.

Once we tackle that problem we can deal wit the root stupidity of racism if you are going to be so ignorant that you believe someone is lesser then you do to the color of their skin or the language they speak you are a fool and less of a person because of this. Humans are human it isn't about hate it is about power and control over others always has been whats starting to happen though is those that want power and control are finding that they will not have it or be able to keep it in the years to come.

So we are all the same race/species which means we all have the same potential, so lets work at treating each other better. But if you want to be a caveman about it fine we will leave you alone you leave the rest of us alone. Just don't be offended and shocked when you open your mouth and say something stupid that clearly isn't true and expect everyone to agree with you.

The guy they are interviewing is the for most expert on humanity and how we developed it is a good read.

I'd thought I'd bump this since we've gained a few racist members since this thread was created.

Racism is disgusting. But it is an easy way to tell who is tolerant and fair-minded and who is rotten to their core.

Who is digging up this ancient threads

I'll agree with most of OPs premise, people should be judged as individuals. Judge someone on their actions and personality, not by their "race", ethnicity, gender, sexual identity, etc.

However, that being said do not mix racism with the legitimate fear of an oversupply of low wage labor; the first being nothing more than ignorance, and the latter being a real economic problem that can lower one's standard of living.
