define when it is racism or your persnol though about it, like if the police first asks what color had the suspect do you think that racist or just some of the few personal information they need to intentfy who did it (as in some places this is instantly looked as being a racist)

How people react like animals, when looking at something bigger then yourself you will be scared same with words and reactions?

Alot of racism goes like follows for black or white:

Racism can not allways be that easy to go away from neither is saying something bad about someone either.

I think it is much more complicated than people think it is, and I don't think people really choose to be racist. Think of it this way, when you hate someone, do you make an effort on your part to dislike them, or do you simply do? Not trying to excuse people acting racist, of course, but it feels like hating someone simply because they hold an uncontrollable disdain for a subgroup seems a bit....hypocritical? We cannot control who we are for the most part, but we can control our actions, so it seems wrong to stigmatize those who are racist ( but don't act as such).

1. You had no control over what color you were when you were born.
2. It's just stupid to think to determine whether or not you will like someone based upon the small gene (Melanin) in the smallest organ (The Skin) in the human body.
3. It's just dumb to believe stereotypes. Not every Muslim is a terrorist, not every black is a criminal, not every Hispanic is illegal and not every white person is well to do in the suburbs.

Personally, I believe that many stereotypes and racial hatred is founded by the media as a tool to keep the races divided to stop us from unifying as a nation against the powerful forces at the top that are taking advantage of us. While we look at our neighbors with a suspicious eye, our rights are being stripped away, we're being taxed into oblivion, our jobs are being shipped out, and we're getting fleeced everywhere from the gas pump to the mortgage on the home. While we're so afraid that the Chinese are going to take us over, the Arabs are here to bomb us, the blacks are here to rob us and the Mexicans are here to steal our income and be a burden on welfare, it's really those in control of this nation who do us the most harm.

Nevertheless, people still treat each other like trash based on nothing more than skin tone and facial features. It's stupid.

What are your thoughts on racism?

Skin is the largest organ of the body. Just had to say that.

I don't think it's necessarily dumb to believe in stereotypes since we can hardly help prejudging pretty much everything. Sight is the main human sense, in most cases. All we can do is refrain from acting upon our less beneficial beliefs by seriously evaluating ourselves and understanding that prejudice, while very helpful, is not always right.

Stereotypes exist because there's usually a little truth to them. Most often it has to do with the general culture where people of a certain demographic are raised. (Which i hate how we sort of segregate ourselves into demographics)

I see no issues with a little light fun in that regard provided the people you're joking with you know well and you know are ok with it.

I'm the typical zero rhythm white guy who can't dance and I have friends who make fun of it, it's all good fun.

I have Asian friends who joke about being great at math and loving rice. I have Jewish and Palestinian friends who have been known to joke about the regional tensions. I had an African American co-worker who told me about a time he was at a strip mall with a bucket of KFC and got a watermelon at the next door shoppers...realizing what he had in his hands and the stereotype he just fulfilled.

I was brought up in a very multicultural area so my experience may be a bit unique to some people. But I can honestly say white friends were probably the minority in my social circle growing up.

You just smile, laugh, and realize that it's OK to like what you like. Act the way you act, and be comfortable in your own skin.

I think for something to be truly racist the intent needs to mock or hurt needs to be present. When that's the case it's a disgusting thing.

The people that get offended on other's behalf are even dumber than racists. That said I wish we were beyond racism in a western cultural sense...unfortunately we're not. Until then I think we're going to be a little overly uptight about things.

Reminds me of a time when I was part of a certain group. It consisted mostly of white people a little younger than me. We had three Asians. One guy said something about Asians being smart and the rest of the group pretty much attacked him. I had no idea why they were so offended. The three of us didn't even care. It was amusing to watch but also sad.

No matter how I tried to explain to them why it wasn't offensive, they wouldn't even listen lol

Racism is for the weak minded, people fear what they can not understand. Race is just human adaption i.e Skin color, facial features.

People have different color Skins to deal with the temperatures, Lighter skins reflects the light making it easier to keep warm, darker skin absorbs the light making it easier to withstand.

People have different eyes to adapt to wind and light levels, the thinner your eyes are the harder it is for dangerous particles to get into them.

I agree with the last couple comments about stereotypes in this thread (Travelian and MorbidHanson).

I believe racism is being made to seem more prevalent or like it has gotten worse by social media (which I think the OP was trying to get at). Because an incident can happen and be recorded in real time and virtually be posted minutes after it happens on a platform seen by millions, when TV and local news generally covered a smaller area and people didn't have access to what was going on states away from them, I can see why people would think that all of a sudden there is an escalation of racism, crime, murders, etc. In reality, there hasn't really been a change in the amount of these things, but in the amount that we now hear about because of better social media.

Being completely honest, I am sure I have said things that could be construed as racist. I am sure I have acted on stereotypes and prejudice - I am not above these things. Have I ever done so maliciously? No - I have never meant anyone harm or wished ill on anyone (except for one person recently, and it is because of her actions against me and my family and has nothing to do with how she looks).

I feel like I am a pretty typical person and that most people try not to judge someone before they have interacted with them. But even after getting to know someone, we still lump people into categories, and judge whether they will like something, or want to go to a place with us, whether they would be too shy, or not have enough money, or what type of work they would be good at, or what type of car they would drive, or if they wear something we think they wouldn't, etc...
We do it all day long and probably don't even realize it.

I think racism has some truth to it, but so does eugenics / communism / forced arranged marriages, but I don't prescribe to them. Arranged marriages have a lower divorce rate, and the couples are happier, in general - should we enforce it? No.

I'd like to argue though, that people aren't being racist just because of how much melanin you produce on your skin. -_- They go by stereotypes. I think there are some truth to stereotypes. Like how insurance companies are able to charge guys more than girls because, statistically, guys get into more accidents. What if they did the same study on blacks, Asians, Hispanics, and whites, and found that the minorities are the ones who get into accidents the most? The results would be "racist" right?

So idk, I think everyone is different, but I think, on average, more people within a race exhibit certain stereotypes, be it personality tendencies, diseases (doctors do this all the time when they diagnose or use preventative medicine), or what have you. It's certainly not about skin color. I think racism is more political than scientific. If it were looked at objectively, scientifically, then people would admit that each race exhibits unique personality traits.

I think it's hugely UNFAIR to take someone from a particular race, and just assume they exhibit all the bad stereotypes without giving them a chance! That's the kind of racism that's wrong. They should be allowed their chance to prove who they are, as a person, and if they do badly - I think it's fair to just treat them as you should.

tl;dr: People who are on the extreme end of anti-racism are wrong. Racism is wrong, in general. Stereotypes have some truth to them, but it's illegal to acknowledge this.

Also, it doesn't matter, because, if we're still around in 400 or so years - races probably won't exist anymore due to the constant interbreeding, which is made more and more prevalent due to increased access of transportation. I.e: Airline fares are cheaper, speeds are greater, more job opportunities/business growth opportunities in different countries. All the countries are getting more and more connected, and so is our human race.

Well, getting made fun of it is easily trumped by showing them your perfect driving record :), and htne they'll just look like idiots, like how I misspelled "then" :D.

But, I mean, you shouldn't feel bad, because, the insurance companies aren't charging you more for being a female Asian driver :/. But guys are getting charged more for being guys.
