It`s an anime about a hikikomori guy whom one day was visited by a girl with a dark past. The girl then tries to help out the guy by setting up a counselling booth at a local park exclusively for him. He and his senpai from high school which he runs into from time to time believes in conspiracy theories, in the show they have these lavender color alien thingy`s that pops up when the paranoia starts. It`s kind of a great but depressing anime because it makes you realize how staying indoors and shutting yourself in can make you feel happy but truthfully you`re missing out (unless you genuinely hate people) .
I like the song from this show called "Darkside" by Yui Makino, it`s a rather cheerful song despite the title but if you read the lyrics..it`s basically inviting you to the darkside like the title says. It`s like one of those cute but evil songs. Go ahead try and listen to it

Seen it, loved it. One of my favorite series. Read the manga too. Also loved that and it is one of my favorite manga. I haven't read the book, though.

Yeah, I've seen Welcome to the NHK, and I own the series on DVD as well. It is a bittersweet story filled with tough real world problems and dilemmas, but the pay off is good. I'm not usually a fan of darker subject matter, but this was so well put together that I could not help but feel for the MC and root for him to overcome his issues. If you can stomach the darker stuff, I'd recommend watching for those who have not yet seen the show.

Yes. It used to be one of my top ten all time favorites, but other series have since pushed it out. Still, to this day, I don't think I've ever heard a more tragic, soul-jarring scream than the one he let out on the cliff.

@supasoggyrolle haha yeah the cliff scene is a bit messed up. It's just nice to watch an anime aiming for a lesser known and/or discussed topic like hikikomori.

Saw the show. It's definitely in my top ten of all time, has moments of pure comedy gold along with serious moments.

Saw the show and loved it...I want to buy the Novel but it is a tad too pricey for me.
