I'm currently asking my parents if i can go for a day- havent gotten a response yet but if i do go, it'll be my first con! :D
Assuming you've been to one before, can you tell me what it's like and what i should be prepared for?

I've been going to fanime for about 7 years now and I most likely will be coming back again this year. The best thing about this convention by far to me is that it runs 24 hours starting I believe Thursday and going to till Monday at around 4pm. I don't think any anime convention does that in California in general but not sure about others across the country. Fanime was my first convention I believe and the 1st time I went for just Saturday and I had sooo much fun that I've been coming every year since. If you have to choose one day Saturday is the best day to come and Monday for a single day is quite honestly not really worth it unless you are only interested in buying stuff from the vender and artist halls before 2-3pm

Big Tips for Fanime in general:
1. REGISTER AT CLOCKWORK ALCHEMY!!! Clockwork Alchemy 2014 is a convention owned by fanime but is separate from fanime and is located at a different Hotel (Double Tree Hotel, San Jose CA) but the badges work at both conventions. The line will most likely be way shorter than fanime's line for registration. Take a shuttle from the Hilton and it will take you to Double Tree Hotel, San Jose CA where Clockwork Alchemy 2014 is since it is not connected at all to the building where fanime is.
Fanime's Registration has sucked really bad the last 2 years with 4-8 hour wait times just to register even if you pre-registered. This convention's nick name is "Line Con" because all you do is stand in line for reg. to stand in another line. Chances are they are going to up again so please take my advice it will save you 4-8 hours of your time.

2. I recommend to not buy food inside the convention center as it is really expensive. Bring some food if you want to save money or plan out which restaurants you want to eat at. The further away the restaurant the less people will be there the more time you will save getting your food.

3. Get plenty of sleep before and after you go. There's a lot to do.

4. Drink plenty of water.

5. Have plenty of fun

Tips for 1st time at Fanime:
1. Try everything or as much as you can such as panels, events, cosplay, video game room, rave ext.

2. Make a schedule of what you want to go to because there are a lot of events happening all at once.

3. Talk and meet people. You'll meet new people that way that you might know for years to come

I hope my advice helps out and have a great time

I might go. I just need to make sure I can get some time off at work especially since my college is off on May 14th so don't have to worry about exams xD.

WIN A PLAYSTATION 4 OR SIMILAR ITEM AT THE EXTREMELY HARD TAKE-HOME ANIME QUIZ! This is a multiple-choice, open-book, take-home quiz that begins on Fanime's web site three weeks before the convention. You can look up anything you want to get the answer. The questions are so hard that you probably will not know any of the answers from memory. Instead, you will need to do research into the real world of such topics as art, geography, history, literature, music and science. Hopefully, this will give you a better appreciation of what goes on in anime and some of the hidden meanings behind the material.

The quiz has started. To access it, go to
